Asus Zenwatch 2 launches in 2 Variants in India from Rs 11,999
Update: January 5, 2016: After conquering the Indian Market with the Zenfone Range in 2015, Ausus is now staring the new year by launching the ZenWatch 2 in India. The design of the ZenWatch 2 is a sleek and elegant and provides the users with a feature-rich experience. The ZenWatch 2 will be available in two sizes, i.e., 1.63” (WI501Q) and 1.45” (WI502Q) and priced at INR 14,999 and INR 11,999 respectively. ZenWatch 2 will be available online on the Flipkart Store and later on will be sold at ASUS Exclusive Stores.
Update – September, 2015, 17:25 : Asus has finally announced the pricing of its much popular smartwatch, the ZenWatch 2, which was revealed at around three months ago. The 49mm Watch with 1.6-inch display would be coming for €149 (Approx. $179) while the 45mm model would be costing around €149 (Approx. $190). This is very aggressive pricing by the Taiwanese company, which makes this smartwatch one of the best priced smartwatches in the market right now. Company says that you would be able to buy the device starting October. Currently, only the European pricing was revealed by the company, it is not known when the device would hit in the United States as well as in Asian market.
Earlier – Jun 1, 2015, 12:17 : Within a span of just six months, Asus has announced its second generation model for the ZenWatch. The Android Wear powered smartwatch comes in two different sizes; one go with 22mm strap while other is with a smaller 18mm. The appropriately named, ZenWatch 2 is a sport the similar design that was found on the original Zenwatch.
This new stylish upgrade from Asus has made its way to the Computex event in Taipei, which is Asia’s foremost exhibition. Sporting a digital crown and two sizes, the Taiwanese company takes some cues from Apple Watch. The digital crown would allow users to interact in a very different manner, as no Android Wear smartwatch has introduced this feature yet. Though, the company doesn’t detail the utilization of the crown, but it will likely offer the physical scrolling. In short, you will be able to navigate through the software covering up the screen by swiping your finger.
The new smartwatch is also one of the first Android wear to offer two size choices, you can get a 49-mm stainless case or go with 45mm one. The 18 combinations of materials and colors are available for the Zenwatch 2. With options ranging from, silver, gunmetal, rose gold, etc., which can be color matched with stainless steel strap, it is similar to the Moto 360 Maker customization. While there are also available, the strap options like different types of rubber and leathers and khaki are also included in it. Moreover, partnership with the Swarovski, you can get the gorgeous leather strap with an embossed diamond pattern and accented with those Swarovski crystals.
Featuring an AMOLED screen with a piece of 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass 3, the Zenwatch 2 is powered by an unknown Qualcomm chipset. The new watch has the improved dust and water resistance rating of IP67. On the software part, the completely redesigned Asus wellness app has improved Remote Camera feature, as well as can track your running and cycling activities too.
The company is not specifying how much battery capacity they are putting inside this new upgrade. But they have ensured that with new magnetic charging connector, users would get a dramatically improved recharging times. The large sized variant would have a bonus feature; it would be able to juice up your smartphone battery, acting as a tiny power bank, in an emergency.
There are few other salient details are missing about the watch, like no price point, availability or whether it would be running on the latest big update of the Android Wear or not. This watch would be clearly competing with LG’s latest Urbane Watch.
