Asus Zenfone Zoom S with 12MP Dual-lens Camera & 5000mAh Battery Launched for Rs. 26,999



From the last few weeks, we have seen several leaks about the upcoming Asus Zenfone 4 smartphones. Just yesterday, Evan Blass has posted the press renders of the all the Zenfone 4 smartphones on Twitter. While we all are expecting the company to announce something about the Zenfone 4 devices, Asus launched the ZenFone Zoom S smartphone today in India. This is the same device that was launched as Zenfone 3 Zoom in the U.S. It is priced at Rs. 26,999 and comes in Navy Black and Glacier Silver color options. The Zenfone Zoom S will be exclusively sold through Flipkart in India.

The USP of the device is the 12MP dual camera setup on the rear. It sports a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Under the hood is the 64-bit Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz and comes coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. It packs 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage that can be expandable up to 128GB. The device runs on year’s old Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the in-house Zen UI laid on top. It supports dual SIM dual standby using the hybrid SIM slot.

On the rear is a 12MP primary sensor with f/1.7 aperture and 12MP secondary sensor with f/2.0 aperture. It offers PDAF, laser autofocus, and OIS. It supports the in-house TriTech+ autofocus that can focus in just 0.03 seconds. This dual camera setup offers 2.3X optical zoom, while the iPhone 7 Plus and OnePlus 5 are only limited to 2.0X optical zoom. For selfies, there is a 13MP IMX214 front facing camera with f/2.0 aperture and 77-degree wide-angle lens. It is backed by a 5,000mAh non-removable battery that is rated to last up to 42 days on standby.

The device comes with the in-house BoostMaster fast charging technology. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, FM Radio, 3.5mm audio jack, and USB Type-C port. The fingerprint sensor is placed on the rear of the device. Beneath the display are three capacitive navigation buttons for back, home, and multitasking (from left to right). The power button and volume rocker are placed on the right edge of the device. It measures 154.3 x 77  x 7.99 mm and weighs 170 grams. There is also a 5-magnet speaker with NXP SmartAmp that offers Hi-Fi audio output with minimal distortion.
