Asus ROG Phone Confirmed to Launch in the US on October 18

After unveiling the ROG Phone at the Computex 2018 in June this year, Asus launched it in September. Now in October, the company is going to make it available in the US. The company has posted the teaser image on Twitter confirming the ROG Phone launch date as October 18thin the US. FYI, Razer will be launching the Razer Phone 2 on October 10th.

While Razer is sticking to the same old 16:9 display with thick bezels, the ROG Phone comes in modern avatar with several add-on options. Asus is selling add-on devices like Aero Active cooler, TwinView Dock, and Gamevice controller with WiGig Dock for an enhanced gaming experience. The Asus ROG Phone sports a 6-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio.

It comes with 90Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, and HDR playback support. The company is also offering the Aura RGB lighting and Aura Sync support with the ROG. Under the hood is the 10nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform overclocked at 2.96GHz. Just like the Razer Phone 2, the ROG Phone also includes 8GB of RAM.

The ROG Phone is also the first smartphone to offer 3D Vaper Chamber liquid cooling technology. In term of optics, there is a 12MP + 8MP dual camera setup with 120-degree wide-angle view and an 8M front camera for selfies. It is backed by a 4,000mAh non-removable battery with 30W fast charging support. The ROG Phone measures 158.8 x 76.2 x 8.6 mm and weighs 200 grams.

Connectivity Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ad 2×2 MIMO, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, A-GPS, NFC, 3.5mm headphone jack, USB Type-C 3.1 port, and USB Type-C 2.0 port. It is also water resistant and comes with Corning Gorilla Glass protection. There are two ultrasonic AirTriggers on the side edges which can be fully customized.
