Last month, ASUS launched the ‘Zenfone 6’ and ‘ZenFone 6 Edition 30’ flagship smartphones. The ZenFone 6 Edition 30 is a special edition which offers 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. Today, the company launched the ASUS Zenfone 6 as ASUS 6z in the Indian market. ASUS cannot use the Zenfone branding in India until the legal hurdles are cleared. Apart from the change in the name, the ASUS 6z packs the same hardware as the Zenfone 6.
Talking about the design, the ASUS 6z comes with a notch-free display on the front and sports 3D curved glass on the rear with aluminum chassis. While the front of the device is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6, the rear comes with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The ASUS 6z sports 6.4-inch LCD display with Full HD+ (2340 x 1080 pixels) resolution and 92% screen-to-body ratio. Just like any other Android flagship smartphone launched in 2019, the ASUS 6z also packs the 7nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform.
It comes coupled with Kryo 485 CPU and Adreno 640 GPU. The device offers up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 2.1 flash storage. It even includes a dedicated MicroSD card slot for expanding the storage further up to 2TB. It runs on Android 9.0 Pie out of the box with Zen UI skin on top. Talking about the cameras, there are just two rear cameras on this device. The primary camera features a 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor with f/1.79 aperture and 13MP ultra-wide-angle sensor with a 125-degree field-of-view.
These two rear cameras can also be flipped to the front for capturing selfies. ASUS is calling this camera setup as Flip Camera. It can record 4K video at 60 fps with EIS enabled and slow-motion videos at 480 fps. Instead of the in-display fingerprint scanner, the ASUS 6z sticks with a rear-facing fingerprint scanner. The smart key can be customized to open an app and also doubles up as a dedicated Google Assistant button. It also equipped with stereo speakers and supports DTS X Virtual Surround Sound 7.1 technology through headphones.
Even with all these features, the ASUS 6z backed by a 5,000mAh battery should easily last for one complete day. It also supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging technology using the USB Type-C port. The device also offers 10W USB Type-C to USB Type-C reverse charging. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6 (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax), Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, FM Radio, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and USB Type-C port. On the right, we can find the power button, volume rocker, and all-new smart key.
It comes with a triple card slot for adding two SIM card and one MicroSD card at the same time. The company is also providing a basic headset within the box. Talking about the pricing, the 6GB RAM variant of the ASUS 6Z with 64GB and 128GB of internal storage is priced at Rs 31,999 and Rs 34,999 respectively. There is also 8GB + 256GB variant which costs Rs 39,999. It will be available exclusively on Flipkart starting June 26th. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for more details!
