Apple has officially released the iOS 10.3 to the public and one of the new features which it brings along with it is the new Find My AirPods feature. This feature comes as a part of the Find My iPhone app and it makes it a lot easier to find your lost AirPod. Do make a note that this was available as a standalone app on the iOS, which was quickly removed, but now it is nice to finally see that it is a part of the OS. Now anyone can take advantage of this app without having to download a separate app altogether.

However, using the Find My AirPods can be a little tricky and if you are wondering how to use it, then you are in the right place since today, in this tutorial, we will show you exactly how to use the app and find your misplaced AirPod.

Before you start using the app, there are certain things that you need to make sure. You need to make sure that the AirPods are connected to iPhone via Bluetooth to work. What this means is, if you are too far from the AirPods themselves, then the tracking might not be as efficient as you would like it to be.

How to use Find My AirPods Feature

  • In order to use this feature, as mentioned earlier, you need to go to the Find my iPhone app. Once you are in the app, look for your AirPods in the list of devices.
  • From there, you can pretty much the location of your AirPods on a map w.r.t your other Apple products.
  • Now once you tap the AirPods icon on the map, you should see an option to play a sound from the AirPods.
  • After the sounds start to play, you get a couple of more options to either mute the left or right AirPod or stop the sound completely.
  • The sound might not be extremely loud for you to be able to locate it outdoors, but it should do the trick if you are in a quiet environment.

Now on the other hand, if you have lost one of your AirPod and if it is not connected to your iPhone, then the map will show the last known location of the same. And if you tap to play the sound in that case, then it will show a sound pending message since it is not connected via Bluetooth to receive the command. Hence if you want the above-given tutorial to work, then you need to make sure that your AirPods are out of the case and are connected to your iPhone.

To sum it up, this new Find My AirPod feature is ideal for finding your AirPods in a nearby location, however, if you have left it in some other location, then it might not be of a good use. Having said that, it is still a handy feature to have to quickly find your AirPods when you are on the move.
