Apple Watch Series 2 with Brighter Display, Faster Chipset and GPS Announced



Apple Watch has put company into the top seller list of Watch makers in 2015. It is the top-selling smartwatch. Jeff Williams talks about the WatchOS 3, which updates the new touch keyboard, the Breathe App and a new SOS feature.

The new Watch Series 2 has focus on sports with some interstitial notifications in between. In a demo video showcased by Apple at event, the band was seen in water, which indicates that new Watch is better waterproofing. And it turns out that is true.

The first Apple Watch was splash proof and new Watch Series 2 is Swim proof with water resistant capabilities for 50meters and can withstand the water pressure equivalent of 50M. In order to make it waterproof, Apple touts that they had to redesign the speaker on the new Watch, as it now has the mechanism that pushes out water. Interesting.

The Watch is said to learn your swimming habits and allows you to use it in pool swim and open water swim options. It has the new chipset inside, called S2. It is a dual core and is up to 50% faster than older model. A new GPU makes its performance twice as original model. It has the integrated GPS now.

There are new apps such as Night Sky 4, which can run at 60fps. Imagine 60fps on your wrist, well, that’s neat. The company is also touting the second generation display, which is said to be two times brighter at 100 nits than old model. With this brightness you can expect much clear picture in one of your adventures in bright sky.

With GPS integrated on the new Apple Watch 2, you will be guided back to without having a cell signal with the help of GPS app. It comes in aluminum, stainless steel, and ceramic, which is white. They would be available at a starting price of $369. The Series 2 Watch goes for pre order on September 9th.

Interestingly, the new Apple Watch Series 2 has already received an Indian price tag of Rs 32,900, while there is a Watch Series 1 would be retailing in the country for Rs 23,900.
