Earlier – Sept 1 : There is an expectation that we might see a new Apple TV announcement at the company’s event on September 9th. And most probably the device would have a bump in the pricing because it is supposed to come with some new features.
Currently, the device is priced at $69, and it might jump between $149 and $199, which would be a sizeable increase in the pricing. It would be the first time that Apple TV would be costing more than $100 in its five years in the market.
The market is flooded with cheap streaming devices like Chromecast, Roku, etc. To stay in the market, Apple would have to offer something worth having for on its next generation model. Though, 9to5Mac reports that company would continue to sell its $69 third-generation model as entry level variant for this year lineup.
Moreover, the report also suggests that we finally maybe seeing the announcement of Cupertino giant’s Internet TV service with this announcement. It would reportedly be coming to both new and older variant of Apple TV.
Though, it is not clear when that rumored service will be going live on the Apple TV. There were some troubles that company has been facing to make deals with several broadcasters.
Accounting to pricing, it is stated that we may see a lot of premium features on the new Apple TV. Like the new device might pack motion-sensitive remote control, which would act like Wii Remote, in further making more friendlier for streaming the games.
The Apple TV might come with the support for App Store as well as Siri, which would make a lot of sense if you view company’s invitation to the event. The event is just around the corner, so join us on September 9th for the live coverage of the event, where we would be setting up the live stream as well.
