Apple will be launching their upcoming iPhones in the next couple of months. Since there is no clear information about the devices, we can’t even confirm the company to name the devices as iPhone 7 & iPhone 7 Plus. Talking about the design, the freshly leaked images suggest the device to come with unique antenna bands design same as on Meizu Pro 6. Based on the leaks, the upcoming iPhones will be powered by A10 processor, and now it said to be manufactured exclusively by TSMC unlike last year, where both Samsung and TSMC produced the Apple A9 & A9X processors.
While the earlier leaks suggested the A10 processor to be manufactured on 10nm Architecture, as of now it is not yet confirmed since the mass production of 10nm chips is said to be delayed. Apple still continued to go with just dual core processor, while on the other hand, we have Android smartphones running on ten core. Though not the processor with high no of cores will be performing better, Apple might have come with at least a quad-core chipset to further increase the A10’s performance. Qualcomm has reduced its cores by 50% for its flagship Snapdragon 820/821 SoC when compared to Snapdragon 810 SoC.
The Apple A10 chipset will be replacing the Apple A9X, which was powering the 12.9-inch and 9.7-inch iPad Pro tablets. The major difference between the A9 and A9X is that the A9X chip doesn’t come integrated with the RAM. But coming to the actual real world performance, the dual core Apple A9/A9X is well head of deca-core Helio X20/25 processor and also outperformed few Snapdragon powered devices in benchmarks. In single core test, Apple A10 has scored 3000 points and is slightly behind the 3200 score of Apple A9X. The Apple A9 that was used in the latest iPhones stands at third position with 2519 points.
