Last year, Xiaomi along with few other Chinese brands became part of the Android P Developer Preview program for the very first time. The Mi MIX 2S was then included in the list of devices to get the early Android 9.0 Pie Beta update. Earlier, this year, the company launched flagship smartphones like Mi 9 and Mi MIX 3 5G running on Android 9.0 Pie based MIUI 10 out of the box. Even the Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7 launched in India came with Android 9.0 Pie out of the box.

Now, the company revealed the Android 9.0 Pie update roadmap for the other Mi and Redmi smartphones. As of now, the company has rolled out the Android 9.0 Pie update for the Mi MIX 2S, Mi 8, Mi 8 Explorer Edition, and Mi 8 SE. By the end of Q1, the company will be rolling Android 9.0 Pie based MIUI 10 beta update for the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi S2 (Redmi Y2 in India) smartphones in China.

Since the timeline is only for the Chinese version of MIUI, the global version will take more time to get updated to the latest version of Android. The company is planning to release the Android 9.0 Pie based MIUI 10 beta update for the Redmi 6, Redmi 6A, Redmi Note 3, Mi 6, and Mi MIX 2 in Q2. Currently, the company is testing the Android 9.0 Pie on the Redmi 6 Pro and Redmi 6X smartphones.

On the other hand, the company already started working on the upcoming MIUI 11. In the coming update, the company will add the system-wide dark mode and will improvements in face unlock speeds and Dolby effects. We will also be seeing private album support in the MIUI gallery app and the APK files will be automatically deleted after installation. However, we will be seeing even more interesting features with the upcoming MIUI 11. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more updates!
