The 2016 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas is yet to kick off on Wednesday, but looks like the first Monday of this New Year has already inaugurated the press releases. Looking for an early piece in spotlight, Alcatel, a French telecom conglomerate has launched its new smarwatch for the kids today. The brand that has an interesting OneTouch series of smartphones, as well as an affordable smartwatch, has forayed into a buddying business, wearable technology for kids.
The CareTime is a smartwatch for kids and a perfect way to get in touch with kids remotely. Allowing services like calling and sending text messages, the parents can have control over their children’s communication. It isn’t the first kids dedicated smartwatch, we recently covered a story about a watch named DokiWatch that offers 3G connectivity and video calling as well as other interesting set of features.
This device is meant for both children and their parents, but is designed to be wear by kids only. The parents can connect the smartwatch via a proprietary app that would you to contact the kid on the watch. The CareTime uses a GPS connectivity to pinpoint the accurate location of wearer. With a simple design kids can easily operate the watch and stay connected to their parents on the daily basis.
It can also be used to establish voice connection. So, your kid would basically have an accessibility to contact you with just a finger tip, it works both ways. But it only makes them answer calls from up to 10 predetermined contact lists, which must be set by family member. It would give peace of mind to the parents that their children are not getting influenced by strangers as they wouldn’t able to receive calls from unregistered numbers.
The kids watch from the French giant would be working on a 2G connection; we hoped, at least, there should have been a 3G network support, considering the fact Alcatel has expertise in telecommunication. Nonetheless, it is a great watch withy support of GPS, Wi-Fi and 2G Network. It will also alert parents when their child leaves a marked safe zone area. This should also ensure the parents that there child is in safety zone area or not.
The Alcatel CareTime Smartwatch comes in two color combinations, which is nothing but pleasant for kids. Meanwhile, it is rated IP65, meaning it is water resistant up to a considerable level. Your kid can play in the pool while wearing this watch, which is something kids do a lot in summer. It would be available for purchase in the Europe and Latin America starting April month while the United States and other regions availability are unknown. But we do hope the company would extend the courtesy to other regions soon. Pricing detail is also scare for now. Stay Tuned to get update on this as well as watch out for our coverage of CES 2016.
