Everyone knows about the Google Glass as it is a trending topic; well Samsung doesn’t want to be an underdog, and it is coming into the competition with Google wearable Glass with its Samsung Gear Blink. Reports from South Korea claim that the name is probably referring the blinking action of the eyes, making a clear note it will be a wearable based glasses.
Report did not mention anything about the specifications or the operating system of the device for now, but we can easily expect it to run something other than Android as, Galaxy is not been mentioned by the company in the name of the device. We have seen the Samsung Gear smart-watches were running on Tizen OS, and the Galaxy branding is missing there.
Considering that the wearable’s industry is growing in leaps, and we are following each of those updates, we can totally expect a smart glass from Samsung soon. They have had recently announced that the Gear 2 Smart Watches was sold to the tune of 500000 units that is not a small number.
Not much is known about this but the South Korean Giant has applied for number of patents surrounding the smart glasses, and the latest one suggests that the Gear Blink will differ from the Google Glass. As it will be featuring Bluetooth earpiece and also a head-up display. The reports also claimed that this device might be launched alongside the rumored Galaxy Note 4 at the IFA 2014 that is due in September.
Google Glass was officially available to the general public few days ago on May 15th for $1500, and Google provided four different prescribed frames for the user choice for the price of $225. This device weighs 50 grams and can take photos at 5 MP and videos at 720p. Moreover, it has 16 GB of flash memory and takes voice commands through microphone. Apart from these it has 1 GB of RAM and has the sensors like accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, etc. It is compatible with any device running on Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich or later and on iOS 7.0 or later.
Nothing much is known about the Samsung Gear Blink for now, but we can expect more news to come up as the days go on. Will this also be priced aggressively like the Google Glass? Well let’s wait and see how it goes.
