Samsung has today announced the launch of their new Galaxy A9 Pro 2016 model in India. The device is priced at Rs 32,490. It was first launched in China around six months ago in March. The pricing in India seems to be similar as China.

With the South Korean giant launching the Galaxy A9 Pro 2016, it is believed that company wants to move attention from the Galaxy Note 7 recall, which has costed company around $1 Billion. On top of that many loyal Samsung, users might not be happy at all because of Note 7 explosions. While for India it is completely different as the brand delayed their sale after reports of the defective battery pack that explodes.

Just after launching the Galaxy A5 (2016) and Galaxy A7 (2016) in China in December last year, Samsung also launched the Galaxy A9 (2016) as the successor Galaxy A8. While the other Galaxy A 2016 devices are recently made available in other countries, the Galaxy A9 (2016) is still limited only to the Chinese market. In early 2016, there are also rumors about the 6-inch Galaxy A9 Pro and with the recent GFXbench & TENAA listing the device is expected to launch within the next few weeks.

Almost after four weeks from the TENAA listing, today the device is said to be made available in China. The device with model number SM-A9100 will come with the same design as Galaxy A9 (2016). It sports a 6-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) Super AMOLED display. It runs on the latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with customized TouchWiz UI out-of-the-box.

Under the hood is the Snapdragon 652 processor  octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz. It has 4GB RAM of RAM while the Galaxy A9 came with 3GB of RAM. There is 32GB of internal storage which can be further expanded via provided MicroSD card slot. In the camera department, we can see an upgraded 16MP rear camera while the selfie camera stays at 8MP, same as on the Galaxy A9.

It is backed by a whopping 5,000mAh battery that can easily last more than a day of usage. The device supports dual SIM dual standby with the hybrid SIM slot where we can replace the second SIM with a MicroSD card. As seen with the Galaxy A9, the Galaxy A9 Pro comes with a fingerprint sensor embedded into the physical home button the front. It will be available in White, Pink, and Rose Gold colors.

While the Galaxy A9 (2016) is priced at 3,199 Yuan (approx $487 / Rs. 33,000), the upgraded Galaxy A9 Pro costs slightly higher at 3,499 Yuan (approx $540 / Rs.35,800). Stay tuned for more updates!
