Samsung is rumored to launch the Galaxy XCover 5 as the successor to last year’s Galaxy XCover 4. However, the recently leaked press renders confirm the new rugged smartphone to be launched as Galaxy XCover 4s. Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy XCover 4s smartphone in Italy for EUR 299.99 (approx USD 340 / INR 23,500). While there are minor changes in terms of design, the new Galaxy XCover smartphone is mentioned to comes with a powerful camera and updated chipset.
The XCover Key on the left edge of the Galaxy XCover 4S now comes in orange color. The device is also IP68 certified for water and dust resistance and MIL-STD 810G certified for its military-grade durability. Talking about the specifications, the Galaxy XCover 4s sports the same 5-inch IPS HD (1280 x 720 pixels) display as seen on its predecessor. Under the hood, the device now comes powered by the Exynos 7885 octa-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz.
It packs 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage that can be further expandable up to 512GB using the MicroSD card slot. The device runs on the latest Android 9.0 Pie-based One UI out of the box. In the camera department, the Galaxy XCover 4s sports a 16MP camera with f/1.7 aperture on the rear and a 5MP selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture on the front. Since it comes with a physical home button, the users can double-press it to quickly launch the camera app.
The device is backed by a 2,800mAh battery and there is no mention of fast charging support. It still comes with a removable back panel and also sports removable battery. Beneath the display, there are three physical navigation buttons for multitasking, home, and back (left to right). battery. It measures 145.9 x 73.1 x 9.7 mm and weighs 172 grams. While the Galaxy XCover 4 came with MicroUSB port for charging, the new Galaxy XCover 4S comes with the modern USB Type-C port.
Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC, 3.5mm audio jack, and USB Type-C port. While the power button is placed on the right edge, the volume rocker along with the XCover Key can be spotted on the left edge.
