Red Color OPPO R9s Officially Announced in China, Available from December 23rd

Last week, a new rumor hinted that the red color OPPO R9s will be company’s first smartphone to launch in the U.S. Though there is no official confirmation from the company about its U.S launch, the red colored variant of the OPPO R9s is now officially announced in its home country, China. This new red color variant also comes with the Chinese actress and singer, Yang Mi’s signature engraved on the rear. While the body comes with a thick red color, the front panel comes in a completely black color along with the fingerprint sensor. It also includes the exclusively designed themes and is priced at 2799 Yuan (approx $400 / Rs. 27,500), same as the original variant. However, the customized edition of OPPO R9s also comes with exclusive postcards, notebook, back case and few other accessories.

Earlier: Dec 12, 2016 – After LeEco entered the U.S market earlier this year, OPPO is rumored to make its entry in the U.S by the end of this month. At the upcoming CES 2017, we might also see Xiaomi announcing its products for the U.S market. Talking about the OPPO, apart from the rumors still there is no official information from the company. Now the popular OPPO R9s is spotted in the new red color and latest rumors suggest this could be the first OPPO smartphone to launch in the U.S. Earlier this year, the company also launched the Red and Blue color variant of the OPPO R9 in China.

OPPO with the selfie focused smartphones has good sales in 2016 and also became the largest Chinese smartphone brand in the last quarter replacing Huawei. Apart from its home country, the company is also one of the faster-growing smartphone brand in the second largest smartphone market, India. The company also sells its devices in southeast Asian countries along with few African countries. Now it is also the fourth largest smartphone brand in the world next to Samsung, Apple, and Huawei. If the company officially enters the U.S, third largest smartphone market, it faces stiff competition from all the other global brands.

Talking about the device, OPPO has launched the OPPO R9s along with OPPO R9s Plus as the successors to the popular OPPO R9 and R9 Plus smartphones. The new devices come with refreshed design with thinner Antenna bands replacing the thicker single Antenna bands on top and bottom of the device. At the time of launch, the device is made available only in Gold and Rose Gold color options. It sports a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. With the OPPO R9s, the company had finally updated it’s Color OS 3.0 to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

The device is powered by the 64-bit Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz and coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. The R9s features 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage that can be further expanded via MicroSD card slot.  The USP of the device is cameras; there is a 16MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and dual tone LED flash. For selfies, it includes another 16MP IMX398 sensor with f/1.7 aperture and the latest optical image stabilization (OIS+). It is backed by a 3,010mAh battery that supports patented VOOC Flash Charge technology.

OPPO claims the device to give two hours of talk time with five minutes of charging. The new Red colored variant can is expected to launch before the Christmas season on China and regarding the U.S launch announcement; we can only confirm once there is an official statement from the company.
