MIUI 8 Global Stable ROM Release Dates Announced with Supported Devices – How To

Xiaomi is all set to start rolling out the MIUI 8 Global Stable ROM starting August 23rd. The same was announced by the company on their official website. Previously, the beta version of this ROM was available for few of the Xiaomi Devices. Now the company has made it official along with the list of the supported devices as well.

Below is the list of all the devices which will be getting the update for this new MIUI 8 Global Stable ROM –

Redmi 1S, Mi 2/2S, Mi 4i, Redmi Note 3G, Redmi Note 4G will get OTA update on August 23rd. The rest of the supported devices will be getting the update following that in near future. The installtion of the ROM is going to be fairly simple if you are already on a Global Stable ROM of this. in that case you will be getting an OTA update notification of alternatively you can also check ‘Updater’ in settings for the same. Earlier: At the Mi Max launch event, Xiaomi announced the global roll out of MIUI 8 beta will start from today. The MIUI 8 ROM with the version 6.7.5 is now available for Redmi Note, Redmi Note Prime, Redmi 2, and Mi Max smartphones. The MIUI 8 stable ROM will be released starting from August 16th. Dual apps is another key feature of MIUI 8 that lets you use any app with two different accounts as two individual apps.

The new version of MIUI 8 includes several new features like caller ID, updated calculator app, integrated payment and recharge options by collaborating with Mobikwik, App Lock and many more. The new Gallery app comes with video editing and cloud storage options. Users can open Updater app to manually check the OTA update or else wait for the notification and confirm to updated your device to the latest MIUI 8 beta update.

Xiaomi Mi 2/2S, Mi 3, Mi 4, Mi 4i, Mi 5, Mi Note, Redmi 1S,  Redmi 2 Prime, Redmi Note 2, and Redmi Note 3 will receive the beta update in the coming days.

Earlier: June 30, 2016 – Xiaomi India at its event in New Delhi, announced the new MIUI 8, apart from launching the Xiaomi Mi Max India. Check out our full written review of the Mi Max here. Hugo Barra, Xiaomi Global Vice President, unveiled the MIUI 8 Global ROM at the event and revealed the MIUI ecosystem currently has 200 million users. The MIUI 8 Global ROM will be available from July 11 in the form of OTA updates. More details on the MIUI 8 Global ROM can be found on the Mi Community and the MIUI Forums.

The list of devices eligible for the public beta of the MIUI 8 Global ROM was also listed. The list includes Mi 5, Mi Max, Mi Note, Mi 4i, Mi 4, Mi 3, and Mi 2. In the Redmi Series, the eligible devices are Redmi Note 3, Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note Prime, Redmi Note, Redmi 2 Prime, Redmi 2, and Redmi 1s.

The public launch of the stable version of the MIUI 8 Global ROM is on August 16th. There are a variety of new features in the MIUI 8. The list includes Cloud Sync that helps you save more space in your device by storing low-resolution images on your phone and original high-resolution images will be available in the cloud. A new video editing option is also included, where now videos can be trimmed, and also multiple effects can be added. Another feature is the Quick ball, which is essentially a rapid launch menu where you can store up to 5 menus for quickly launching them. The quick ball will also be available from the lock screen.

Scrolling screenshot is one of the new features that was demonstrated. It allows you to take a continuous screenshot of the page without restricting the user to the content on the screen. Another noteworthy feature is the Dual app. It allows you to run two instances of any application on a smartphone like having two instances of Whatsapp. Users in India will exclusively get ringtones from Hungama (free), and T9 prediction will also be available. A smart caller ID feature is also available in both Dialer and Messaging app. Stay tuned for more updates on features from MIUI 8.
