Meizu PRO 5 Ubuntu Edition with Exynos 7420 Processor & 21MP Camera Launched

Meizu, the Chinese smartphone maker has partnered up with Canonical to announce another Ubuntu smartphone, it’s called PRO 5. Yes, the same Meizu PRO 5 that was launched in China in September last year. The first Meizu device that was powered by the Ubuntu mobile OS was the MX4, which was launched early last year as well. The Canonical, company behind the Ubuntu operating system is touting it as the most powerful Ubuntu device yet. The list is short and comprises only five devices to date, this being fifth.

The PRO 5 Ubuntu edition comes with, well, Ubuntu Mobile OS installed. The most interesting aspects of this handset are not about its OS but its specifications. Under the hood, it is powered by an Exynos 7420 Octa-core processor made by Samsung. Sporting 5.7-inch 1080p AMOLED display, it is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The device comes in two variants; one comes with a 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage while the second model comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. Note that the RAM used on this device uses LPDDR4 memory technology, which is considered faster and responsive.

The Ubuntu experience has changed a lot since company first introduced to the world, well at least that’s what they are claiming. Its scope feature has seen enhancements, like Twitter, SoundCloud and YouTube now offer personalized information with more interactive play. Now users can like, favorite, read and post comments from these scopes updates. The company is working hard to bring as much as main stream services like Instagram, Telegram and Spotify to its mobile OS.
