Meizu PRO 5 with 21MP Rear Camera and Exynos 7420 SoC Launched for 2,799 Yuan

Meizu was rumored to launch a new flagship called as Meizu MX 5 Pro, but Jack Wong, CEO, Meizu confirmed that there will be no Pro variant for the recently launched Meizu MX5. Instead, the company has earlier announced a new sub-brand called ‘Meizu PRO’ and the today the company has launched its first smartphone ‘Meizu PRO 5.’

Importantly the device is powered by Exynos 7420 processor that was used in the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+. The company also showed the benchmarking results in which the Pro 5 has easily topped the chart when compared Exynos 7420 powered Galaxy S6 and Snapdragon 810 powered Mi Note.

It sports a 5.7-inch 2.5D Full HD (1920×1080) AMOLED display with a pixel density of 387 ppi and Gorilla Glass 3 on top it for protection. It comes in two variants, one with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage and the other with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.

The Pro 5 comes with all metal body with an mTouch 2.1 fingerprint sensor integrated into the Home button. It has a hybrid dual SIM slot that can also be used for inserting microSD card in place of SIM 2, the slot can support up to 128GB of storage. On the bottom of the device, we can find the USB Type-C port for charging and data transfers. After OnePlus introduced this new technology on their flagship device OnePlus 2, yesterday Xiaomi has also launched its first USB Type-C powered smartphone Mi4c.

There is a 21MP Sony IMX230 rear camera sensor with an aperture of f/2.2, laser autofocus, dual LED flash. It is also assisted with phase detection auto focus and 6P lens. There is also a 5MP selfie camera with an aperture of f/2.0 and FotoNation 2.0 beauty mode.

It comes with a 3,050mAh battery that uses mCharge quick charging technology for charging the device from 0 to 65% in just 30 minutes. Connectivity on this device includes Cat 6 4G LTE and VoLTE along with Wi-Fi 802.11 ac/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 LE, GPS/A-GPS, and USB Type-C port.

The device measures 156.7 x 78 x 7.5 mm  and measures 168 grams. It comes in the colors – Silver, Gray, Silver and Black, and Gold. The 32GB variant is priced at 2,799 Yuan while 64GB variant is priced at 3,099 Yuan.
