Well, we are here to give a precise tutorial on how you can switch your current non-JIO mobile number to Reliance Jio 4G. Let’s dive into details.

  1. First, you need to send an SMS from your mobile number that you need to switch from to Jio. Type PORT Mobile Number to 1900. Note that SMS charges would be as per current service provider’s tariff.
  2. Now you should receive an SMS stating the UPC, which is Unique Port Code. It is your code to switch to a new operator and still keeping the current mobile number. It is valid only for 15 days from the date pf generation.
  3. Head over to nearest Reliance Digital/ Xpress Mini or authorised Jio store and ask for customer application form regarding switching to JIO using MNP service. Ask staff if you have any query regarding filling the form, they will assist you.
  4. Next UPC needs to be filled in that application form. You will have to provide all the documents for proof of address and proof of identity.

A new SIM card would be issued to you that will have the same number as your current. But according to the telecom regulations, the new SIM would take five days to activate from the day you have applied. On the sixth day, you should see your new JIO SIM card with old number activated in your 4G enabled handset.

Disclaimer: The Reliance Jio is going make available it’s welcome offer starting September 5th. It is believed that MNP for JIO is also going to be made available since that day. The above procedure is for your knowledge once it starts.
