Gionee S8 with 5.5″ Full HD AMOLED & 16MP Camera Launched at 2299 Yuan

Gionee has launched the flagship smartphone in China at a price tag of 2299 Yuan and will be available in Rose Gold, Shining Gold and Deep Space Gray color options. As announced earlier, Gionee has officially launched its high-end Gionee S8 at the ongoing Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona. As we exclusively covered earlier, the company also came with a new logo. This is the first device from Gionee to include a pressure sensitive 3D Touch display that can differentiate between Touch, Tap, and Press. According to the company, the app can be selected by a touch and can be previewed with a tap and need to be pressed to run the selected app.

The S series from Gionee is known for its slimness and all metal body, the same can also be found on this device. It includes the world’s first invisible loop metal design that hides the antenna without compromising over the signal strength. The Gionee S8 also supports dual 4G bands along with b17 & b20 for global roaming. The 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) AMOLED display along with a 2.5D glass on top gives good viewing angles, and the Gorilla Glass 4 makes it a scratch proof display.

Under the hood, is the MediaTek Helio P10 octa-core processor clubbed with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM. It had 64GB of internal storage but missed the MicroSD card slot. It runs on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box with the latest Amigo 3.2 UI overlaid. The device is backed by a 3000mAh battery that might offer a day’s charge. It supports dual SIM dual standby mode and offers basic connectivity options along with NFC that enables virtual payments.

Coming to the camera, the company has promised to show a new era of mobile photography with Gionee S8. With the f/1.8 aperture and 6P lens, the 16MP rear camera on this device can capture better low-light photos. It includes both PDAF and Laser Autofocus for faster and better focusing. On the front is an 8MP sensor that takes care of selfies. The camera software is upgraded to ‘Image+ 2.0’ that brings the virtual flash to the front camera for capturing selfies even in the dark light conditions. Talking about the video recording, the integrated AKM4941 HD recording chip combined with two microphones can record clearer audio along with the video.

The Gionee S8 smartphone is priced at 2299 Yuan and also available to buy the device on installments such as 777.83 Yuan for 3 months, 394.66 Yuan for 6 months, 203.08 Yuan for 12 months and 107.29 Yuan for 24 months. To recall, Recently, this brand has launched a new device in the P-series in India and it is called as Gionee P7 Max. It is priced at Rs. 13,999 and came with 5.5-inch HD display, 4G LTE, MediaTek MT6595 Octa-core 2.2GHz processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB internal memory, 3150mAh Battery and 13MP/5MP rear & front camera.
