Gionee is expected to launch Gionee M6 and M6 Plus smartphones in India; both these devices are unveiled last month in China. Instead, the company launched a new smartphone under the S series called Gionee S6s today in India. The company also announced Rs. 3,000 price cut on its predecessor Gionee S6 which now costs Rs. 16,999. While the Marathon series from Gionee is known huge battery capacities, the devices under the S series come with a slim metal body with good camera sensors. Talking about the Gionee S6s, it is priced at Rs. 17,999 which slightly higher than the year old Gionee S6. It sports a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display with a 2.5D Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top. Under the hood is the MediaTek MT6753 octa-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz. It packs 3GB of RAM, 32GB of onboard storage and also includes MicroSD card slot. On the back of the device is a circular fingerprint sensor that makes the S6s even more secure.

It comes with a 13MP IMX258 rear camera with PDAF and f/2.0 aperture. On the front is an 8MP front camera with f/2.2 aperture and 5P lens. Both these cameras are assisted by a LED flash. While the Gionee S6s measures 8.27 mm thickness, the Gionee S6 came with 6.9mm body. It is backed by a 3,150mAh non-removable battery that can go through a day of normal usage. The Gionee S6s runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based Amigo 3.2 UI. There are several pre-installed apps like UC browser, True Caller, Danger Dash and many more. The device supports dual SIM dual standby with the help of hybrid SIM slot. Connectivity options include 4G LTE with VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. It will be available in Latte Gold and Mocha Gold colors. The Gionee S6s will be exclusively sold online through Amazon and will be available across India via retail outlets.
