YU Televentures has debuted the Indian smartphone market in 2014 by launching the YU Yureka. At that time, it is the most affordable smartphone to be powered by Snapdragon chipset. Earlier this year, the company launched the Yu Yureka Note through both online and offline markets. Now the company launched its third device under the Yureka series called as YU Yureka S (YU 5200). The device is priced at Rs. 12,999 and sports not so impressive specifications.
Though Snapdragon 615 processor is not well received because of its over heating issues, but YU still opted for the SD615 SoC for the latest Yureka S. It comes with a 5.2-inch display with Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The device packs 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage along with a MicroSD card slot for storage expansion. While the company already released its own YU OS based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the Yureka still runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
There is a 13MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and LED flash. On the front is a 5MP selfie camera with 84° wide-angle lens and f/2.2 aperture. It is backed by a 3,000mAh non-removable battery and supports years old Quick Charge 1.0. It is rated to give 9 hours of talk time and lasts upto 450 hours on standby. The Around YU is integrated into the OS and provides shopping, travel, food, and many other services. The device measures 154.8 x 78 x 8.5 mm and weighs 172 grams.
For the best sound output, the company also included the Wolfson Codec and Yamaha Amplifier. It also sports noise cancellation Mic that removes all the background noise while talking through the device. At this price, there are many other devices offering fingerprint sensor and better build quality, importantly much better processor. It is available through online and offline stores and comes only in Black color.
