If not, you can check the same manually through settings.
Open ‘Settings>About Phone’ and look for the software updates, if any updates are available then download and install the same using the WiFi connection. Once upgraded, the device will perform faster as the updates always bring enhancements for the device by fixing any minor bugs.
Live Wallpapers make your screen beautiful, and it always enhances the look of the display. But, the most important factor to consider is that it uses most of the processor and at the same time, it drains the battery faster. So, using these wallpapers will obviously decrease the speed of the phone and as a result, it may lag. We advise you to use normal wallpapers and screensavers for your device instead and help yourself for the smoother performance of the phone.
By changing the animation settings, one can easily improve the functionality of the phone. To do so, the user needs to enable the ‘Developer Options’ on the phone. For this, you need to tap few times on ‘Build Number’ under ‘Settings>About Phone>Software information’. After tapping on the specified option, you can become the developer, and you can get access to few extra features.
Now check the ‘Developer Options’ under settings and tap on it to find the animation settings. You can see all the points set to 1X by default and so turn them off completely or reduce the point to 0.5X. Now, the performance of the device gets snappier, and you can revert to old settings at any time. If you cannot be able to access the developer options, then try the same procedure after updating the device to Lollipop version.
Most of the gadget freaks like to use various widgets on their devices, and so they fill the devices with lots of widgets. But, the point to consider here is that by doing so the processor gets affected and, in turn, slows down the performance of the phone. So, we strongly advise you not to use any widgets and if at all you are fond of using them then limit them to just one or two. By this, you can speed up the performance of your device to a certain extent.
The fact to be noted is that every Android device comes with pre-installed apps which can be bloatware causing performance and batter-draining issues. So, find out such apps from your device and uninstall them permanently from the phone. Also, you may have installed several apps on your device from play store, out of which few may be unnecessary.
So, recheck the apps list on your phone and remove the useless apps from the device so as to free the storage spaces as well as to boost the performance. From next time, it is advisable to download only the useful apps.
In an Android device, whenever a specific app is opened or used, the cache gets stored in the background. So, it is the user who needs to clear the cache in time and for that, open each app from the ‘App Manager’ in your device and tap on ‘Clear Cache’. By doing so, you can free the cache related to the apps in your device.
To wipe away the device cache, you need to get your phone into recovery mode. For that, you need to turn off your phone and press volume up and power button at the same time until you see the menu on the screen. Now, release the keys and select the ‘Recovery’ option using volume down key and confirm the selection using ‘Power button’.
Now, in recovery mode, select and confirm the ‘Wipe Cache Partition’ and then go for ‘Reboot System Now’ after the completion of the process. That’s all; now you will have the device which is free from the cache.
If your Android device is extremely slow, then you can perform the factory reset to bring back the high performance of the phone. But make sure to take the back up of data before performing this task as it erases everything from the phone. So, first you need to turn off the phone and get it into recovery mode as explained above. Next, select and confirm, ‘Wipe data/factory reset’ option and then ‘Yes—delete all user data’ and wait for some time. Once the process is done, select and confirm ‘Reboot system Now’ and that’s it.
The other way to perform ‘Factory Reset’ is by opening ‘Settings>Backup & Reset>Factory Data Reset>Reset Phone>Erase Everything’ and follow the onscreen instructions. Once the process is done, you will have a new device in your hands with smoother performance.
By following few other precautions, you can gear up the device performance for a certain extent. Never turn on the WiFi and Bluetooth connections when not in use. Always enable the data connection only in strong coverage areas as the phone battery drains faster in low network coverage areas. Do not over-load the processor of the device by opening several apps at a time as it may hang the phone. Remember to use the original charger for charging the device and manually adjust the brightness and rotation of the screen instead of auto-settings.
