Xiaomi in partnership with Huami sells wearables fitness bands under Amazfit and Mi brands. The company’s Mi Bands are quite popular for their very cheap price tags and superior quality. It had shipped over 3.7 million wearables in Q1 2016 and captured a market share of 19%. While Xiaomi is the second largest Wearable brand in the world, Fitbit with 24.5% market share sits in the top position. From the last few months, there are rumours suggesting Xiaomi to launch its first smartwatch.
Just like Amazfit and Mi Bands, Xiaomi’s first smartwatch might be manufactured by Huami. Earlier this month, the Amazfit Watch has got CCC certified, and we believe it to be the Xiaomi’s first ever smartwatch. The company already sent out the press invites for the launch of a new product on August 30th. As of now, there is no much information about this product from the company.
The CCC certification revealed the support audio playback and also come with built-in storage. The user can add mp3 files to the smartwatch and can be streamed through the Bluetooth headsets. Almost all the smartwatches can control the smartphone music player using Bluetooth connectivity. With the both these functionalities, we can confirm this to be the fully functional smartwatch, unlike the Meizu Mix which is a mechanical watch with smart functionalities that too without a display.
Recently Xiaomi also announced that the Mi Band 2 production is now doubled to meet the huge demand. It is yet to be made available in India and with its affordable, we also expect it to be as successful as Mi Band.
