ZTE Axon Elite with Three Biometric Authentications Announced for 419.99 Euros

ZTE has unveiled the Axon brand of premium smartphones in July 2015 with the launch of Axon smartphone in the US. The device include premium flagship specifications and is priced at just $450. The device is also launched in the China with added fingerprint sensor on the rear of the device. Now, the company has announced the Axon smartphones for other global markets. The device will be called as ZTE Axon Elite though the form factor remains same, there are few changes in the internals of the device.
Adam Zeng, CEO, ZTE Mobile Devices, said “After two successful launches in the U.S. and China, we are delighted to continue the global rollout of Axon with this latest version for Europe, Latin America, and the Asia-Pacific.” He also added “Axon is the start of big and bold things for ZTE, and we will continue to evolve our Axon flagship line to align with our global strategies.”
The 5.5-inch 2.5D display of the Axon Elite comes with a Full HD (1920×1080) resolution with a pixel density of 401ppi while the US and Chinese variants launched with QHD (2560×1440) resolution. It is powered by 64-bit Snapdragon 810 MSM8994 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz, coupled with Adreno 430 and 3GB RAM. The 3GB RAM will be enough even for experiencing lag-free performance, but since the other two variants came with 4GB RAM, this can also be considered as a downgrade.
It has 32GB of internal storage and the microSD card slot (up to 128GB) inclusion is the advantage for those who needs more storage. The design of the device looks more like Chinese variant than the US variant because of its faux leather like texture on the rear of the device.
The device also includes the fingerprint sensor that missed in the US variant of Axon. Along with fingerprint sensor, the device also supports eye-scan and voice control as biometric authentications. It runs on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop based MiFavor 3.2 UI.
The 3,000mAh battery on this device can deliver one day of mixed usage, and it also supports Quick Charge 2.0 that delivers 2 hours of talk time with just 5 minutes of charging. Talking about the camera, it has dual rear cameras, one with 13MP Sony IMX214 sensor for capturing the images and the other 2MP sensor for measuring the depth of field. On the front, it features an 8MP camera for selfies and video calls.
The device will be available starting from September 24 via eBay in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK for a price of 420 Euros. The first offline sale of the Axon Elite will start from Germany and will later continue to roll out in other markets like Spain, France, Turkey, Mexico, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Russia and Philippines. As of now, there is no information about the pricing or availability of the device in India. We will update the article once the device is announced for India, until then stay tuned!
