Yotaphone is a Russian company that has launched the world’s first dual display Android smartphone which came with normal LCD display on the front and an e-ink display on the back. The company has unveiled the device at the Mobile World Congress held in February 2013 and was launched later in December 2013. The device was launched in India exclusively by Flipkart in October 2014.
The Yotaphone 2 which is an upgrade variant of Yotaphone has got much better design and specifications. The functionality of the e-ink display has also seen major upgrades.It is launched at the event held in London on 4th December 2014 for 699 euros (approx $800).
Since Yotaphone was launched in India, everyone has expected the company to launch the Yotaphone 2 in India, but until there news of launching the device in India. For the launch of Yotaphone 3, Yota has teamed up with ZTE for the production of the device along with development and integration of mobile software. Until the Yotaphone 2, the handsets are manufactured in Singapore with a higher cost of production and a lower number of devices.
There will also be special edition Yotaphone that will be assembled in Russia. The device will be officially launched in Q1 2016, we can expect it to be unveiled at MWC 2016 since the earlier two devices were first shown up at the MWC. The first batch of the devices will be around 1,00,000 units.
With this partnership, we can expect the Yotaphone 3 to have much aggressive pricing; which the company says will be around 30% decrease in the production costs.
