Xiaomi’s Black Shark Helo with 10GB RAM & Dual Heat Pipe Cooling System Launched

Xiaomi’s subsidiary brand Black Shark launched its second-gen smartphone called Black Shark Helo (AWM-A0) today in China. It is the successor to the original Black Shark launched earlier this year. The new Black Shark Helo comes with the redesigned body and sports latest specifications. It now comes with LED strips on the sides and backlit logo on the rear. The device newly offers dual heat pipe cooling system to offer unthrottled performance while playing games for longer durations.

The Black Shark Helo is also the world’s first smartphone to sport 10GB of RAM. Xiaomi is also teasing to launch the upcoming Mi MIX 3 with 10GB of RAM. Under the hood, the Helo is powered by the 10nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform. The company mentioned the device to have scored 309,237 on Antutu. The device will be offering up to 10GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage.

It comes with a 6.01-inch 18:9 AMOLED display with Full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) resolution and sports 2.5D curved glass on the top. There are front-firing stereo speakers with dual smart PAs for an enhanced audio experience. It is backed by a 4,000mAh non-removable battery and comes bundled with a 9V/2A (18W) power adapter. In terms of optics, the Black Shark Helo sports 20MP + 12MP dual rear cameras with f/1.75 aperture and a single 20MP front-facing camera with f/2.2 aperture.

The company newly added the AI scene recognition, beauty mode, and portrait mode in the camera app. It can record 4K videos at 30 fps and 1080p/720p videos up to 120fps. Along with the standard two microphone setup, there is a third microphone placed on the front to take calls on speaker while playing games. The slide placed on the left edge can turn on/off Shark Space which can improve the better gaming experience by limiting the background usage.

Talking about the build quality, the Helo comes sports Metal frame with a patterned glass back body. It measures 160.0 x 75.25 x 8.7 mm and weighs 190 grams. While the device supports dual SIM dual standby, it lacks the MicroSD card slot. The device sports USB Type-C port for charging and connecting wired headphones. Coming to the pricing, the base variant of the Black Shark Helo with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage is priced at CNY 3199.

The 8GB RAM variant with 128GB of internal storage costs CNY 3499. Finally, the Black Shark Helo with 10GB of RAM and 256GB of storage will be on sale for CNY 4199.
