Xiaomi Teases A New Smartphone Launch On July 18 In India, Expected To Be the Mi Max 2
Xiaomi India, on its official Twitter handle updated a post, teasing about a new smartphone launch in India. As you can see from the image above, the tweet reads about a new smartphone launch which is scheduled to happen next week, i.e. 18th July to be precise. While the tweet does not really give out a much about the smartphone or any other specifics, however, it is expected that the company is planning on launching the new Mi Max 2 smartphone which they launched earlier in China.
The tweet reads #BigIsBack, which makes us believe that the smartphone in question is indeed the Mi Max 2. Talking about the Mi Max 2 smartphone, it is a successor to the last year’s Mi Max smartphone which was highly popular in India.
And now, the fact that the company is planning on launching the same in India is really interesting a lot of Mi fans would be excited about it. The Mi Max 2 brings in a lot of new improvements to the existing Mi Max smartphone, offering users a lot more for the price. As mentioned earlier, the smartphone is already available to purchase in China and hence, we know pretty much about it. In fact, it was recently available to purchase in Malaysia as well.

In terms of the specs, the new Mi Max 2 also comes with the same 6.44-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display. Internally, it is powered by a 64-bit Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz and it is coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. It comes in two storage variants, i.e. 64GB & 128GB out of the box. However, do make a note that there is no support for microSD card expansion.
In terms of the camera, the Mi Max 2 features a 12MP Sony IMX386 sensor on the rear with PDAF and a large 1.25μm pixel size. On the front, there is a 5MP front-facing shooter as well. And the best part is the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 runs on Android 7.1 nougat out of the box with the company’s MIUI on top of it. The battery on this smartphone is, however, the highlight of the device. The Mi Max 2 packs a massive 5,300mAh battery, which should be more than enough to keep things powered for a long time.
