MediaTek powered Xiaomi smartphones are banned in India after the launch of original Redmi Note 4G smartphone. The Chinese variant of Redmi Note 3 came with Helio X20 SoC, while the Indian variant came with Snapdragon 650 hexa-core processor. Talking about the Redmi Note 4, the Indian variant is expected to feature Snapdragon 652 octa-core processor instead of Helio X20 octa-core processor. The device sports a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS display with a 2.5D glass on top and offers a pixel density of 403 ppi.

The Snapdragon 652 octa-core processor comes with a clock speed of 2GHz and coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. Just like the Redmi Note 3, the upcoming device might also come with 2GB and 3GB RAM variants with 16GB and 32GB of storage respectively. It sports a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front camera. The device is backed by a 4,100mAh non-removable battery and that might also support fast charging technology. Though these are the similar specifications as on its predecessor, the new Redmi Note 4 comes with a new design.

It sports a metal body with chamfered edges which might offer better grip than the rounded edges on Redmi Note 3. Just below the right camera is the fingerprint sensor that might come with even more features with the coming Nougat update. The company will be coming with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with MIUI 8 out of the box. After launching the Redmi Note 4 next month in India, we might soon expect the new MIUI updated based on Android 7.0 Nougat. The Nougat based MIUI beta is already released for Mi 5, and soon we might see the public launch.

At the CES 2016, the company announced to bring out something for the global markets. While the company already launched the Mi Box Android set-top box in the U.S market and also sells few accessories in the European markets. The original Redmi Note 3 was launched in China in Nov 2016, the variant which came to India was launched in China as Note 3 Pro in Jan 2016, so its not right to say that Xiaomi launched 2 iterations of its Redmi Note series in 2016.

  • Shaurya Kalia

So note4 is going to be weaker than note 3. They should have gone with snapdragon 653

    • Arpit Porwal

      Are you serious??

    • co0l1992

653??? LoL if u want it to be priced aggressively don’t expect 653..
      625 or 652..

  • No noticeable upgrade from Note 3!

    • Arpit Porwal

It come with USB type C, a refreshed design and there is a 4GB variant too. SD 652 is better than SD 650, The 4GB variant is worth an update for Note 3 users too.

      • Ray

Read the article. It says SD 625 not 652.

        • Arpit Porwal

Do you think Xiaomi would do that? They recently launched Redmi 4 Prime with SD 625 which will also be coming to India in Q2 2017 probably. They are definitely gonna put SD 652 in Note 4.

        • Cicero

These idiots are just copying the leaks from Maktech blog without applying their minds. When the Redmi Note 3 comes with Snapdragon 650, how can the Note 4 come with 625. And how can it stave off the competition from LeEco Le 2 and the Cool 1 both of which have a 652 and come at the same price point

That idiot at Maktech blog made a typo of 625 instead of 652 and all these non techie fools just copied them in haste to be the first with the “scoop”.

  • Krunal G

Great news for Xiaomi lover. 👌

    • Arpit Porwal

      Yay!

  • SnapDragon652 not 625

      • Raj

SD 625 built based on 14 nano meter technology which is used in SD821. Its more power efficient than any processor now.

        • Cicero

Power efficient is not the same thing as powerful buddy

          • Raj

you may not find difference in performance in day to day usage.

          • Cicero

“you may not find difference in performance in day to day usage”

            Oh really???

            4 A72 Cores + 4 A53 Cores + Adreno 510 (Snapdragon 652)
            against
            4 A53 Cores + 4 A53 Cores + Adreno 506 (Snapdragon 625)

            Are you effing kidding me??

          • Raj

Yeah by seeing specs u may think its low end but instead of performance u r getting better battery life. am not a gamer that’s why am saying in day to day usage u cant find diff. performance 50% depends on OS optimization also thats why low end moto devices can beat high end xiaomi devices. that o.s optimization u cant find in xiaomi devices. so u cant find much difference in day to day usage like browsing & casual gaming. hope u got it.

          • Arpit Porwal

what? low end moto phones can beat high end xiaomi phones? Try comparing Moto e3 power with Redmi 3S. Then try to compare Moto g4 plus or moto mto redmi 3S prime and you will come to know that Xiaomi’s low budget can beat Moto midrangers in performance. I am not talking about camera.

          • Raj

try to do speed test comparison of day to day operations of both the phones because of heavy UI xiaomi phones will lose any day. how can u compare 5.5 inch moto g4 plus phone with 5 inch phone? if u want to compare compare with last year moto g 3rd gen or moto g4 play is far enough to beat redmi 3s.

finally the successor of note3 gonna launch on jan19, to rule the budget mobile market again in 2017!!

  • Better design and build quality at same price as Note3 !

  • Sagar VK18

Hope 4 prime will also launch!

    • Arpit Porwal

You mean Note 4 Prime or Redmi 4 Prime?

      • Sagar VK18

        Redmi 4 Prime 😀

  • Somanath

Octa core???… But in Chinese model it shows deca core processor

    • Arpit Porwal

Hexa core Note 3 beat that Deca core Note 4 in a video by C4ETech. Cores doesn’t matter much. Its all about optimization at the end.

      • Somanath

No just asking bro… It’s coming with a Decca core or octa core part processor?

        • Jaroslav Kroupa

Probably octa core (snapdragon) since only MediaTek makes deca cores and Xiaomi devices with mtk are banned in India

  • So this SD625 14nmFinFET octa core must be better than SD650 hexa-core!

Is this 13 MP camera better than 16MP camera in Note3 too?

  • Vishal Giri

so it’s finally official!! as much I would hv loved to see the powerhouse SD653 inside I’m happy after seeing the price of 4/64 Ram variant and it’s great that they omitted the 16GB variant!!

  • Suhan N

colour Varient doesnt make much change in most buyers, specs matters (SD 625 or SD652 which is latest & the best ?)
