Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 with Sliding Selfie Camera Confirmed to Launch in October

Xiaomi has been launching bezel-less smartphones with flagship specifications under the Mi MIX series. Now, the company is getting ready to unveil the third-gen Mi MIX smartphone. Just after the Honor Magic 2 announcement, Xiaomi’s co-founder Lin Bin shared the image of the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 on his Weibo handle. The device is will be launching in the month of October in China and will go on sale by the end of that month.

Just like the Honor Magic 2, the new Mi MIX 3 might also come with a true bezel-less display with no chin at the bottom. Till now, Xiaomi is using the bottom chin for placing the front camera. With the Mi MIX 3, the company is poting for the sliding mechanism where the front cameras and other sensors will be hidden under the display. The Mi MIX 3’s slider seems to hold single front and IR face unlock setup.

We can find the similar setup on the notch of the recently launched POCO F1. While the earpiece is placed on the frame on the top, we expect the slider to sport the secondary speaker. As seen on the Vivo NEX and OPPO Find X, there is still a visible chin at the bottom. However, it is considerably smaller than what we have seen on the previous Mi MIX smartphones. Just the Mi MIX 2 devices, the upcoming Mi MIX 3 will also come powered by the 10nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform.
