After launching the concept smartphone with bezel-less display and all-ceramic body in 2016, Xiaomi fine-tuned the design of Mi MIX smartphone to make it viable for the mass production. The Mi MIX 2 launched in September this came with an 18:9 three-sided bezel-less display. Instead of the all-ceramic body, the company used the metallic frame with a ceramic back body. However, there is also a premium variant of the Mi MIX 2 with the ceramic unibody design.
The Mi MIX 2 launch event in China has happened just a day ahead of the iPhone X launch event. Unlike the Mi MIX 2 design, the iPhone X sports an edge-to-edge display with an ugly looking notch on the top. With the iPhone X, Apple also got rid of the boring stereotypic design we have been seeing since the iPhone 6 & iPhone 6 Plus. Now, the newly leaked image of the back panels of the rumored Mi MIX 3 hints the company might go after the iPhone X design.
While we don’t have information about the display on the Mi MIX 3, the rear camera setup looks exactly similar to what we see on the Apple iPhone X. Unlike the Mi MIX 2, the upcoming Mi MIX 3 might offers dual camera setup. The dual cameras along with LED flash are placed vertically on the top left corner of the device. On the rear, we can also found the signature “Mi MIX Designed by Xiaomi” as seen on the Mi MIX and Mi MIX 2 smartphones.
The circular fingerprint sensor is also placed on the rear of the device. Xiaomi might also continue its collaboration with the French designer Philippe Starck for designing the Mi MIX 3 smartphone. It’s too early to confirm any details of the Mi MIX 3 as it is expected to launch only in the second half of 2018. Xiaomi has already confirmed to launch the flagship Mi 7 with Snapdragon 845 SoC. We also expect, the upcoming Mi MIX 3 to feature the same flagship Snapdragon SoC.
