Xiaomi in collaboration with the French Designer Philippe Starck had launched two bezel-less smartphones under the Mi MIX lineup. Now in 2018, the company launches an upgraded version of the last year’s Mi MIX 2 called as Mi MIX 2s. Xiaomi might launch the Mi MIX 3 as the successor to last year’s Mi MIX in the latter half of this year. The Mi MIX 2S was first expected to be unveiled at the MWC 2018 event in February 2018.
Xiaomi Rumored to Launch Mi MIX 2S Bezel-less Smartphone Ahead of MWC 2018

As of now, there is not much information about this new Mi MIX 2S smartphone. Compared to the original Mi MIX 2, the upcoming Mi MIX 2 might not get many changes. We might get more details about this upcoming device in the coming days. Talking about the Mi MIX 2, it was launched in October in India for Rs. 35,999 and it is now retailing for Rs. 32,999. It comes with a metal frame and ceramic back body.
On the front is the 5.99-inch edge-to-edge display with Full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. It packs a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 540 GPU. The variant launched in India came with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal 2.1 storage. There is a circular fingerprint sensor on the rear for unlocking the device with ease.
In the camera department, the Mi MIX 2 sports a 12MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, and 4-axis OIS. For selfies, there is a 5MP front-facing camera that comes with facial recognition technology. As seen on the Mi MIX, the Mi MIX 2 also sports a front-facing camera beneath the display. The Mi MIX 2 lacks the 3.5mm audio jack, and the users need to connect the charging cable or the headphones via a single USB Type-C port.

A year after launching the concept bezel-less smartphone, Xiaomi came up with the refined version of the Mi MIX called Mi MIX 2. Surprisingly, the company is now going for a mid-year upgrade for the Mi MIX lineup. As rumors suggested, this new device will be called as Mi MIX 2s and comes with the front-facing camera placed on the top right corner. Compared to the Mi MIX 2, the upcoming Mi MIX 2s will offer higher screen-to-body ratio with a smaller chin at the bottom.
Under the hood, we might see the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 630 GPU. With the Mi MIX 2S, the company will also introduce the dual cameras in the Mi MIX lineup. Apart from the fingerprint sensor, this new device will also support Face Unlock to authenticate the device. If the rumors are to believed, the Mi MIX 2S will be world’s second smartphone to feature an under-display fingerprint sensor.
Earlier this year, Vivo launched the Vivo X20 Plus UD with the Synaptic’s under-display fingerprint sensor. Talking about the UI, the Mi MIX 2s will be coming with iPhone X-like swipe gestures. OnePlus also offered similar gestures for its OnePlus 5T within the beta update.
Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S to Launch on March 27th in China

Xiaomi is long rumored to launch the Mi MIX 2S as an upgrade to the Mi MIX 2 smartphone. While it is expected to be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress 2018 in Barcelona, the company has now officially confirmed to unveil the Mi MIX 2S smartphone on March 27th in China. While the Mi MIX 2 came with Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform, the upcoming Mi MIX 2S will be coming with Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform.
The teaser image posted by Xiaomi on Weibo also revealed the AnTuTu score of Mi MIX 2S as 2,73,741. This score is higher than Xiaomi’s BlackShark gaming smartphone which is leaked to sport the Snapdragon 845 SoC and 8GB of RAM. With the Mi MIX 2S, Xiaomi is rumored to introduce the dual camera setup for the first time in MIX series. Even the rear-facing fingerprint sensor will be replaced by an under display fingerprint sensor.
Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S with Dual Rear Cameras Spotted in Live Images

Last month, Xiaomi launched the mid-range Redmi Note 5 Pro smartphone with iPhone X-like vertically aligned dual cameras on the rear. Now, the newly leaked live images of Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 revealed the similar looking dual camera setup. Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi, also confirmed the Mi MIX 2S to support wireless charging. However, there is no information whether it comes with wireless fast charging or not.
There are rumors suggesting the front camera to be placed on the top left corner. The newly leaked images reveal the front of the device to look similar to the Mi MIX 2. It still comes with a circular fingerprint sensor placed on the rear. The official launch date is two weeks away and we might be seeing more leaks in the coming days.
Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S to Offer Full Ceramic Body & Full Screen Display 3.0

Just a week later, Xioami will officially unveil the Mi MIX 2S smartphone in China. On the same day, Huawei will also launch the P20 and P20 Pro smartphones. As of now, we came to know most of the details about the Mi MIX 2S and Huawei P20 smartphones. Now, the newly leaked image from China confirms few key features of the Mi MIX 2S. While the MI MIX 2 came with the metallic frame and ceramic body, the Mi MIX 2S is mentioned to come full ceramic body.
The original Mi MIX also came with the full ceramic body including the hardware buttons. With the Mi MIX 2S, Xiaomi will also introduce the full-screen display 3.0 with no notch and minimal bezels. It sports a 5.99-inch 18:9 display with Full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) resolution. Under the hood, it comes powered by 10nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform. It includes 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
As seen on the earlier launched Mi MIX devices, there will be no MicroSD card slot for storage expansion. The rear camera on the Mi MIX 2S will be coming optical image stabilization (OIS). It will be supporting 43 bands & 6 network modes for using anywhere in the world.
Lei Jun Reveals Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S Specifications

The upcoming Mi MIX 2S has been in the rumor mills for quite some time. A few leaks also revealed the key specifications of the device. However, the company’s CEO Lei Jun has now officially confirmed the Mi MIX 2S to come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor along with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. He also mentioned the device to sport ceramic unibody design with curved edges on all the four sides.
Talking about the cameras, he mentioned the 20MP must be better than 12MP. With this, we can expect the Mi MIX 2S to sport 20MP rear camera with AI-integrated features. The leaked image also shows vertically aligned dual cameras on the top left of the device. Xiaomi might have used the 20MP sensor with larger pixel size for better performance in the low-light condition. With the Mi MIX 2S, the company is more concentrating on the improving the camera performance.
Latest: Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S Goes Official in China
Today in China, Xiaomi has officially unveiled the Mi MIX 2S as an upgrade to the Mi MIX 2. The device comes in Ceramic White and Black color options. Xiami is also including the 18K gold plated ring around the rear camera sensor on the Black variant. Compared to the Mi MIX 2, the new Mi MIX 2s comes with narrower bezels and dual rear cameras. The device comes with a curved ceramic body with Aluminum frame.
Talking about the dual rear cameras, there is a 12MP wide-angle sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a 12MP telephoto sensor with f/2.0 aperture. It comes with dual pixel autofocus, portrait mode, and 4-axis OIS. As seen on the other 2018 flagship devices, Xiaomi is also offering new AI features like scene detection, dynamic bokeh, and few others. On the rear, we can also spot the circular fingerprint sensor.
Under the hood, the Mi MIX 2S is powered by the 10nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform and comes coupled with Adreno 630 GPU and up to 8GB of RAM. The Mi MIX 2S is also the first smartphone in China to come with ARCore support. There is also 64GB/256GB of onboard storage that cannot be further expandable. The device also supports 7.5W Qi wireless charging along with quick charging.
