Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 to Feature AMOLED Display Offering 93% Screen-to-Body Ratio

Xiaomi will be launching the successor to the Mi MIX in the second half of 2017. Recently, Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi and French designer, Phillipe Starck have also confirmed to be working on the second-gen Mi MIX. While no other information about the upcoming Mi MIX is mentioned at that time, we have been seeing several rumors in the recent times. The latest news from China suggests the display of the Mi MIX 2 to offer 93% screen-to-body ratio which is higher than the 91.3% screen-to-body ratio of the original Mi MIX. Instead of the LCD panel, the Mi MIX 2 will be using a curved AMOLED panel.
Just like its predecessor, the upcoming device will also have the rounded corners along with ceramic body and piezoelectric ceramic acoustic technology. The concept images of the device look almost similar to the Mi MIX, but bottom edge is even smaller than the original Mi MIX. The AMOLED panel on the Mi MIX will be a good upgrade but will make the replacement parts to cost even higher. While the Mi MIX lacks any protection for the display, we think Xiaomi might offer Gorilla Glass protection on top of the display. The curved glass that is rumored to be used for Mi MIX 2 will minimize the unusable area of the device.
The fingerprint sensor will stay on the rear of the device. The Mi MIX with the almost bezel-less display is marketed as concept device and is only sold in very limited units. But recently, the company also launched it the Mi MIX in Dubai for AED 2999 (approx Rs. 54,500) which is much higher than what it is selling for in China. The Mi MIX was launched alongside the Mi Note 2 in the second half of 2016. It came with a ceramic body including the frame and the hardware buttons. Under the 6.4-inch Full HD display is the Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor coupled with 4GB/6GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of internal storage.
It came with a 16MP rear camera and 5MP front camera. With all these high-end specifications, the device comes powered by a 4,400mAh battery along with Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technology. The 6GB RAM variant with 256GB of internal storage also came with an 18K gold plated rings around the fingerprint sensor and camera module. With the upcoming Mi MIX 2, we can expect even more innovative features along with flagship specifications. Since the device will be launched in the later half of 2017, we can expect more leaks to follow soon in the coming months. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for more details!
