Xiaomi is long rumored to launch the Mi 5C smartphone in China. It will be the cheaper variant of the Xiaomi’s flagship Mi 5 smartphone that was launched at the MWC 2016 in February. Last month, the company also launched the Mi 4C with mid-range specification and affordable pricing when compared to the Mi 4. Talking about the Mi 5C, few rumors even suggested the device to go official on December 6th, but that didn’t happen. Now the device listing spotted on one of the Chinese e-commerce website called TMall. However, the listing hasn’t revealed any new details about the device or the first looks images.
Though the device is listed for 9999 Yuan, the official pricing can be anywhere between 1000 Yuan to 1500 Yuan. Recently, the company had released the latest MIUI beta based on Android 7.0 Nougat. Now the upcoming Mi 5C might be first ever Xiaomi device to run on the latest Android OS out of the box. From the listing, we came to know that the device will be featuring Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution display. It will be powered by an octa-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz and coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. We also expect the company to bring a 4GB RAM variant with a higher storage capacity of 64GB.
As seen with other high-end Xiaomi smartphones, we aren’t expecting the MicroSD card slot on this device. While last year’s Mi 4C came with a polycarbonate body, the Mi 5C will be featuring an all metal body with rounded edges as seen on the leaked images. Unlike last year, this year, the company also launched the Mi 5S and Mi 5S Plus smartphones exclusively in China. Apart from the Redmi Pro, the Mi 5S Plus is the first dual camera smartphone in the Mi series. On the other hand, the Mi 5S is the first smartphone to come with an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor which sits behind the front panel.
The Mi 5S comes with the same 5.15-inch Full HD display as on the Mi 5, but the Mi 5S Plus sports a bigger 5.7-inch display with the same 1080p resolution. Under the hood, both the devices are powered by the latest Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor which an upgraded variant of the original Snapdragon 820 SoC. The Mi 5S includes 3GB and 4GB RAM variants, whereas the Mi 5S comes with 4GB and 6GB RAM variants. Both the devices are available in 64GB and 128GB storage variants. The device came with the Android 6.0 Marshmallow based MIUI8 out of the box.
The Mi 5S sports a 12MP rear camera with 4-axis OIS and PDAF. The dual 13MP camera setup on the Mi 5S Plus additionally offers bokeh effect and after focus features. On the front, both the cameras are equipped with a 4MP selfie cameras. Unlike the Mi 5S, the Mi 5S Plus comes with a regular fingerprint sensor and is placed on the rear of the device. The devices feature a fingerprint sensor and NFC making them usable for Xiaomi’s Mi Pay mobile payment service. Later the company also launched the Mi Note 2 with 3D curved glass on front and back of the device.
