Xiaomi, at the global launch event held on April 23 in New Delhi, has unveiled the Xiaomi Mi4i smartphone, not that was something unexpected, but there was enough from the company to keep everyone interested to know what’s good in it. Unibody design with the polycarbonate body having a sleek look, and the device has both, black and white color variants, but that’s not it. There are yellow, sky blue and pink colors as well.

The company at the MIUI7 launch event announced the Mi 4i Limited Edition in all new yellow, blue and pink colors. This limited edition devices will be available exclusively through the company’s official online store from 25 August for just Rs.12,999, starting from 2 pm. It comes preloaded with Android 5.0 Lollipop based latest MIUI7 out-of-the-box.

Coming to the specifications, it comes with a 5-inch display, and it is a 1080p resolution display (pixel density of 441 PPI), but interestingly, Xiaomi has managed to keep it as compact as the iPhone 6 with a 4.7-inch display. 138.1mm is the height for both, the Mi4i and the iPhone 6. It is a fully laminated OGS display (protective glass, touch screen and the display in a single layer), making it as tough as the Gorilla Glass 3.

Calling it as the Sunlight Display, Xiaomi says that the display is made to show pictures in more details, when captures are taken under bright sunlight. It uses a technology to change the tones of the pictures, based on how the light is available around the objects. The Sunlight Display also is said to be 30% more power efficient.

The battery on the Xiaomi Mi4i is a big 3120 mAh battery, and that is incredible for the 7.8mm thick device having just a 5-inch screen. It uses a 4.4V high-voltage battery, and it is 9% smaller in volume to the one packed in Mi4, while having 12% more efficiency. Xiaomi claims that the battery will be able to take you through a day and a half with a full charge, for regular usage.

For the 5-megapixel front-facing camera, there are some software addition, like the selfie timer feature. The HDR feature has enhanced alignment, ghost removal, halo suppression, gamma & contrast tuning, color correction and low-light de-noising.

The Mi4i is powered by the 2nd gen. Snapdragon 615 processor (octa-core, four with 1.7GHz, four with 1.1GHz speeds) with the 64-bit architecture. This is speeder than the first gen. S615, which is 1.5 and 1.0 GHz in speed. There is a 2GB LPDDR3 RAM and 16GB internal storage.
