After teasing from the last few weeks, Xiaomi’s Black Shark has finally unveiled its latest gaming smartphone today China. The all-new Black Shark 2 will be the successor to Black Shark Helo. After the Black Shark Helo launch, the company has expanded its reach to many foreign markets across Europe and the Middle East. While the Black Shark 2 is now launched in China, the company is yet to reveal the date for the global debut.
The Black Shark 2 comes in Black, Ice Silver, and Blue color options. According to the company, the design of this device is inspired by racing cars. The back of the device is made of glass and metal. On the rear, we can also spot the RGB backlit LED logo. The Black Shark 2 sports a 6.39-inch True View AMOLED display with independent control chip. It offers Full HD+ (2340 x 1080 pixels) resolution and comes with 19.5:9 aspect ratio.
With the little bezels on the top and bottom, the device offers better grip and eliminates accidental touches. The display also supports full DC dimming technology and includes adaptive display function for automatically adjusting the display effect according to factors such as the environment. Under the hood is the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform built on 7nm FinFET process. It comes coupled with Kryo 485 CPU and Adreno 640 GPU.
The six-layer body-wide liquid cooling 3.0 system will offer better heat dispersion and avoid thermal throttling. It offers up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. The device is backed by a 4,000mAh non-removable battery and supports up to 27W fast charging. It runs on Android 9.0 Pie based Black Shark OS out of the box. With the dedicated Shark Space slider button on the side edge, the user can further enhance the device performance.
It also comes with iPhone 3D Touch like technology called Magic Press. The device measures 163.61 x 75.01 x 8.77 mm and weighs 205 grams. In terms of optics, the device comes with 48MP + 13MP dual camera setup on the rear with f/1.75 aperture and a single 20MP selfie camera on the front with f/2.0 aperture. Talking about the pricing, the base variant of the Black Shark 2 with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage is priced at CNY 3199 (approx USD 475 / INR 32,700).
The 8GB RAM variant with 128GB and 256GB of internal storage is priced at CNY 3499 and CNY 3799 respectively. There is also a 12GB RAM variant with 256GB of internal storage and it comes with a price tag of CNY 4199. The Black Shark 2 will be available for pre-orders later today and sales will begin from March 22nd. The company also confirmed to launch the Black Shark 2 gaming smartphone in the Indian market.
