Xiaomi launches 2nd Gen VR Play 2 Headset in China at 99 Yuan / Rs 900
The Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi is known for launching a lot of versatile products in the market. The company came up with its first VR headset last year and just like most of their products, it was on the affordable side. The Mi VR Play headset was priced at 49 Yuan and it was definitely a great product. We did a video on that and you can check it out on our YouTube channel or you can also watch it down below. Now talking about this one, this is an upgrade to the existing one and it brings in a couple of new changes.
Frist of all, the new one which the company has launched now is priced at just 99 yuan which roughly comes down to about Rs. 900. Talking about the changes here in this new one, we are not looking at a significant overhaul but there are some things that have changed now. More than the changes, we have a lot of improvements this time around and it is definitely going to make things better in terms of usability. This is what we always appreciate Xiaomi for, bringing in new improvements to make things better. This new VR Play 2 supports phones with display sizes ranging from 4.7″ to 5.7″, which should be fine with pretty much most of the devices out there.
With the new Mi VR Play 2, we have a lot of changes to make it more comfortable to wear. As we all knew, the Mi VR Play was made out of unique materials making it stand out in terms of build quality. Now the new one is also made out of an improved material. Apparently, this will make it more comfortable to wear it for an extended period of time. The company also says that it is lighter than the predecessor and it also has some holes which will make it cooler from the inside. This time around the company has however decided to drop the zipper design and hence you will be able to slide in your phone and be ready to go.
As mentioned earlier, this is again on the affordable side since it is priced at about 99 Yuan. It is slightly expensive than the original one but then again, it is way cheaper than the Mi VR headset which they launched along with the Mi MIX smartphone. With that, the company now has a total of three headsets to offer for the users who are into VR and if you are in the market for a VR headset, then we suggest you check out these options before you look anywhere else. The Mi VR Play 2 will go on sale in China initially on April 19th.
