Xiaomi to Launch Redmi Note 5 Pro as Redmi Note 5 in China on March 16th

Last month, Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 5, Redmi Note 5 Pro, and 55″ Mi TV 4 in the Indian market. While the company debuted the TV market with the Mi TV 4, the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro are the first Redmi devices to launch with an 18:9 display. However, only the Redmi Note 5 Pro is a completely new device from Xiaomi. The Mi TV 4 was first introduced in China in May 2017. Coming to the Redmi Note 5, it was launched in China as Redmi 5 Plus in December 2017.
Earlier this week, the company teased to launch the Redmi 5 smartphone in India on March 14th. Now, Xiaomi has confirmed to launch the Redmi Note 5 Pro as Redmi Note 5 in China. The teaser image revealed the launch event to be held on March 16th. From the front, the Redmi Note 5 (a.k.a Redmi Note 5 Pro) looks exactly similar to the Redmi 5 Plus. On the rear, the device will be offering vertically aligned dual cameras.
Under the hood, the device will come powered by the 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 octa-core processor with custom Kryo 260 cores. In the camera department, the Redmi Note 5 packs 12MP + 5MP dual rear cameras and a whopping 20MP front-facing camera for selfies. It will be backed by a 4,000mAh battery and lacks the fast charging support. While the Redmi Note 5 Pro is retailing in India from Rs. 13,999 (approx CNY 1,365), we expect the Chinese Redmi Note 5 also to launch with the similar price tag.
Later this month, Xiaomi will also launch the Mi MIX 2S as an upgrade to the last year’s Mi MIX 2 smartphone. The Mi MIX 2S will be coming with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and dual rear cameras. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more details about the upcoming Xiaomi smartphones.
