Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Gaming Phone Teaser Confirms Snapdragon 855 SoC

The Black Shark 2 gaming phone from Xiaomi has been in the rumor mill from quite a few days and now, the company has confirmed that the upcoming device will be featuring the latest Snapdragon 855 SoC from Qualcomm. The same has been posted on the companies official Weibo account along with a teaser image. The global launch event is scheduled on 18th of March in Beijing, China but nothing is known about the global availability yet.

The handset is confirmed to feature a new Liquid Cool 3.0 technology and a recent AnTuTu listing of the Black Shark 2 revealed that the device has scored 3,59,972. It also revealed that the gaming device will be featuring a Full HD+ (2340 x 1080 Pixels) resolution display. Furthermore, the listing also clarified that the device will come in 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage. Although we can see more storage variants of the same.

The device is expected to feature a Kryo 485 CPU and Adreno 640 GPU as per the benchmarking app and it will be running on the latest Android 9.0 Pie operating system out of the box with Joy UI on top. From the Weibo post, it is also confirmed that the upcoming Black Shark phone will be featuring the new AI game engine for the global launch. It will be interesting to know how Xiaomi will be pricing this device and when it will be made available globally.

This new Black Shark 2 will be the successor of the Black Shark Help smartphone that came into the market with 6.01-inch AMOLED display and was powered with 10nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC.
