In the selfie generation, most of the Chinese smartphone brands are trying to capture the market by launching the selfie-centric smartphones. The Indian smartphone brand, Micromax might soon offer some competition to the Chinese brands by launching the Selfie 2 Note & Selfie 2 smartphones. Just like most of the previously launched Micromax smartphones, the upcoming Selfie 2 Note & Selfie 2 are the rebranded Wiko Upulse & Upulse Lite that are launched last month in Malaysia. At sub Rs. 10,000 price range, the Micromax Selfie 2 Note & Selfie 2 comes with high-end specifications along with a metal body.
The pricing of these devices is yet to be known, and we expect them to sell via offline stores. The devices feature a removable back cover with the removable battery. Apart from the different screen sizes, both the Selfie 2 Note & Selfie 2 sports same specifications and also comes with the same design. The Micromax Selfie 2 features a 5.2-inch IPS display with HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution, whereas the Micromax Selfie 2 Note has a slightly bigger 5.5-inch display with the same HD resolution. There is also a 2.5D curved glass laid on top.
Under the hood, the devices are powered by MediaTek MT6737 quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz and come coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. There is also a MicroSD card slot for storage expansion up to 64GB. The devices run on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box and are also said to receive the Android O update once it is publically released. Micromax is also offering TrueCaller as the native dialer app and the devices additionally support one-hand mode and long screenshots. On the rear of the devices, we can also spot the circular fingerprint sensor.
Talking about the rear camera, there is a 13MP Sony sensor with f/2.0 aperture and 5P lens. There is also Super Pixel feature for capturing photos with a whopping 52MP resolution. For selfies, there is an 8MP shooter on the front with f/2.0 aperture and 84-degree wide-angle lens. Both the cameras are also accompanied with LED flash for capturing. The devices also offer 22 Indian regional languages support on the system level. Connectivity options on this dual SIM smartphones include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, USB OTG, 3.5mm Audio Jack, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port.
Even with the different screen sizes, the Micromax Selfie 2 Note and Selfie 2 are backed by the same 3,000mAh removable battery. The Micromax Selfie 2 Note measures 153.5 x 77.5 x 8.5 mm and weighs 167 grams, whereas the Micromax Selfie 2 measures 144 x 72 x 8.4 mm and weighs 157 grams.
