Recently we have seen WhatsApp announcing its extended support to the device running on the old operating system and now according to the latest news, the Facebook-owned application is going add support for all its users to send any file to its contacts or even with the groups. WhatsApp is currently testing new functions and expected to be rolled out soon to its users and it will be obviously received well as it will make file sharing easier.
After the new update, the users can send, PDFs, spreadsheets, Powerpoint slides, Word documents and other files quickly. This feature is under testing and is with a limited number numbers as the rollout is slow for now. Nothing is known about when the rollout is going to hit the devices but is expected to happen soon in the coming days. The maximum file size that the user can send is 100MB on Android and is limited to 128MB on iOS and while it is 64GB on WhatsApp Web. This limit is set because sharing of bigger files might crash the servers.
We have seen continuous changes in the WhatsApp application since it is acquired by Facebook. Although WhatsApp takes some time to get a new update, we can see many updates coming to the Facebook Messenger app and Instagram. We can expect many more updates to come in the future to these apps which will make it easier to the user. Although recently announced that it will be ending its supports to most of the older version Android by the year 2020, but the customers using Android 2.3 version or older is almost negligible.
