Earlier this year, Vivo launched the Vivo V5 Plus smartphone with dual selfie cameras. After that, the company launched many entry-level smartphones like Vivo Y53 and Vivo Y55S. Now, the company launched a new low-cost smartphone called Vivo Y25 in Malaysia at just MYR 499 (approx $110 / Rs. 7,500). The device will be available in the next few days and is mentioned to come in Grey and White color options. Much like any other budget smartphone from Vivo, the Vivo Y25 also comes with a plastic built body. Few other Chinese companies like Xia0mi and Lenovo are offering metal built smartphones at this price range.
It sports a 4.5-inch IPS display offering 854 x 480 pixels resolution. Under the hood is the MediaTek MT6580 quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz. At this price, the device packs just 1GB of RAM which can only handle basic usage. There is 16GB of onboard storage that can be expanded additionally up to another 128GB via MicroSD card slot. In 2017, the Vivo Y25 runs on three years old Android 5.1 Lollipop based highly customized Color OS 2.1. Talking about the cameras, there is a 5MP rear camera with LED flash and a 2MP front camera for selfies.
With all these low-powered specifications, the 1,900mAh battery on this device might hardly give a day long battery life. According to the listing, the Vivo Y25 measures 130.7 x 66.4 x 9.2 mm. It is a dual SIM dual standby device and supports both FDD and TDD LTE. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, OTG, 3.5m Audio port, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. The power button and volume rocker are placed on the right edge of the device. It lacks the fingerprint sensor and comes with three capacitive buttons for multitasking, home, and back (from left to right).
Earlier to this, the Vivo Y53 was spotted on the Vivo’s Malaysian website. It sports a 5-inch qHD (960 x 540 pixels) display and is powered by 1.4GHz Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor. It packs 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage that can be expanded upto 256GB. Unlike most of the recent smartphones, Y53 comes with dual SIM card slots and also an additional MicroSD card slot. There is an 8MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and a 5MP selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture. It is backed by a 2,500mAh non-removable battery and offers basic connectivity options along with 4G VoLTE.
