Vivo V5s Vs Vivo V5 Smartphones – Comparing the Identical Twins
Vivo launched the Vivo V5 smartphone a couple of months back here in India and it is one of the best smartphones out there in the market for taking selfies with, if not the best one. It comes with a 20MP secondary camera, i.e a selfie camera on the front which is one of the highlights of the smartphone. However, if you are in the market for a selfie-centric smartphone right now, this is not the only option. In fact, the company has launched a new one today in the market called the Vivo V5s. Hence, to make things a little easier for you, we decided to do a small comparison today between the Vivo V5 and the Vivo V5s which will give you a better idea of what you will be getting when you buy either of these smartphones.
Talking about the design of both the devices, there is not a lot that has changed here on the Vivo V5s from the V5. In fact, the physical dimensions are pretty much the same and they look exactly the same from the front. On the front, we have the same 5.5″ display and the front camera placement and the other sensors placements, it’s all the same. So if someone shows both of these devices from the front and asks you to identify which one is which, then you are going to have a tough time figuring out the same.
Now coming to the back, we have a slight change here with the antenna lines. The Vivo V5s does a better job of hiding them by taking them from the top and bottom of the device instead of two parallel lines which is distinctly visible. Apart from that, we have no changes on the back whatsoever. Even on the sides, all the buttons are placed similarly. On the right side, we have the volume rockers as well as the power button. At the bottom, we have the speakers, micro USB charging port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. So if deign is something which you are looking for, then there is absolutely nothing which you need to worry about here.
Since both the devices are mainly focused on cameras, it would be unfair if we don’t compare the cameras on both the devices. The front-facing selfie camera on both Vivo V5s as well as the Vivo V5 is the same i.e. they have 20MP sensors with a moonlight flash. At the back, we have a 13MP rear-facing camera. Check out some of the images below for a quick reference. This is by no means a full camera review, but only a quick impressions. As you can from the images embedded above, the camera on the Vivo V5s is wider than the on the Vivo V5. This is applicable to both front and the rear camera.
The internal specifications of both the devices are again identical. Both the Vivo V5 as well as the Vivo V5s are powered by the same MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor. Both the device also has the same amount of RAM, i.e 4GB. The only difference is the Internal Storage as the Vivo V5s comes with 64GB instead of 32GB on the Vivo V5.
Even the camera on both the device which is pretty much the highlight here is the same. Both of them have the same 13MP rear facing camera and a 20MP front-facing selfie camera with the moonlight flash. Hence, if you are all about that Selfie life, then you will be ready to rock them at any given time. Apart from that, both the device has the same 3,000 mAh battery internally and there is also a fingerprint scanner on the front which is embedded on the home screen.
Both the Vivo V5s as well as the Vivo V5 are running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based Funtouch OS. This is the company’s custom UI on top of the Android. We have no info about the Nougat update for these two devices, however, be sure to stay tuned to us to be the first one to know when that happens.
Overall, to sum it up, both the Vivo V5 as well as the Vivo V5s are not all that different. They both are indeed identical to each other, except for a few differences. However, given the fact that both of these devices focus mainly on selfies, you should not have any issues clicking a Perfect Selfie in given condition. Also considering the fact that the Vivo V5s is only slightly more expensive than the Vivo V5, if you want the additional internal memory and a clean back design, then the V5s is the one for you. However, the Vivo V5 is also an equally great option.
Having said that, we would like to know what do you think about both the device? Would you be interested in buying the new Vivo V5s or the Vivo V5 and why? Be sure to let us know by dropping a comment down below and also, stay tuned to PhoneRadar for more info on this.
