Vivo V5 Plus Smartphone goes official with Snapdragon 625 along with V5 Lite

Vivo has come up with another selfie focused handset called as Vivo V5 Lite and will be the latest addition to the V series. Along with V5 lite, Vivo has also made its V5 Plus official which went for pre-order in Malaysia. These devices are now available in India and have been listed on the official website. The V5 Plus will be available in Golder color option and is available for pre-order in Malaysia for 1799 and will be launched on 24th of January while the V5 Lite will come in Crown Gold and Rose color but nothing is mentioned about the pricing.
The V5 Plus comes with 5.5-inch (1980 x 1080 pixels) FHD resolution with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Under the hood, there is an Octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor with a clocking speed of 2GHz coupled with 4GB RAM and Adreno 506 GPU. This is a dual SIM variant with the support for two nano SIM cards and will come out of the box with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box with Funtouch OS 3.0 on top.
On the camera front, there is a 16MP camera with LED flash with f/2.0 aperture and PDAF. On the front, there is a 20MP camera with Moonlight Flash, Sony IMX376 1/2.78″ sensor, f/2.0 aperture and 5p lens accompanied with the secondary 8MP front camera. To enhance the security, there is a fingerprint sensor and is powered by a 3055mAh battery with fast charging feature.
The Vivo Lite V5 comes with the same 5.5-inch HD display (1280 x 720 pixels) with 2.5D curved glass. There is a 64-bit Octa-core processor coupled with 3GB of RAM and has hybrid Dual SIM slot. The device comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Funtouch OS 2.6 on top. There is a 13MP camera on the rear accompanied with 16MP camera on the front with Moonlight Flash and f/2.0 aperture.
The onboard memory is 32GB that could be further extended up 128GB via microSD card slot. There is a 3000 mAh battery on the back to power the handset and is also a 4G variant that comes with other connectivity options like WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS + GLONASS and USB OTG. Earlier: Vivo V5 Plus which is going to be announced the next week is now available for pre-order on the Malaysian retailer DirectD. The handset has been listed on the website for RM 1,799 (approx $400) and will be going for sale on 21st of January. The device sports a 20MP camera on the front and will come out of the box with Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
After launching the metal build Vivo V3 and V3 Max smartphones in the first half of 2016, Vivo came up with the selfie-centric Vivo V5 with a whopping 20MP front camera. At the time of Vivo V5 launch in November last year, the company also announced to bring the Vivo V5 Plus with even better selfie features to the Indian market. Now, we got the official announcement confirming January 23rd as the launch date of the Vivo V5 Plus in India. The upcoming Vivo V5 Plus sports 20MP and 8MP dual rear cameras on the front. The Lenovo Vibe S1 which was launched in November 2015 is the first smartphone with dual front cameras from a major manufacturer to launch in India.
In November 2016, Vivo also launched the Vivo X9 and X9 Plus smartphones in China with the same 20MP + 8MP dual selfie camera setup. Now the upcoming Vivo V5 Plus will be a modified variant of either Vivo X9 or X9 Plus. Apart from the dual front cameras, both these devices also feature a 16MP camera sensor on the rear. The devices run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based FunTouch OS 3.0. The Vivo X9 comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display whereas the Vivo X9 Plus comes with a slightly bigger 5.88-inch display with the same resolution. The Vivo X9 is powered by 2GHz Snapdragon 625 octa-core SoC and includes 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
On the other hand, the Vivo X9 Plus packs 1.4GHz Snapdragon 653 octa-core SoC along with 6GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage. The physical home button on the front comes embedded with a fingerprint sensor. The X9 is backed by a 3,050mAh battery whereas the X9 Plus with a bigger form factor sports a bigger 4,000mAh battery. Both the devices come with dual SIM slots and supports 4G VoLTE out of the box. The Vivo V5 which is now retailing at Rs. 17,980 came with a single 20MP sensor on the front. It comes in Crown Gold and Space Grey color options. At this price, the company is offering a 5.5-inch display with HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution.
Under the hood, the V5 is powered by 1.8GHz MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. It has 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage that can be further expanded via MicroSD card slot. Apart from the 20MP selfie camera, there is a 13MP primary camera on the rear with LED flash and PDAF. It is backed by a 3,000mAh non-removable battery that also supports fast charging. It supports dual SIM dual standby and features a dedicated AK4376 chip for Hi-Fi audio output. While the Vivo’s in-house FunTouch OS was recently upgraded to Android 6.0 marshmallow, we can’t expect the Android 7.0 Nougat update for Vivo devices anytime soon.
