Meizu will be launching its latest flagship smartphone, Meizu MX7 in the next few weeks. While there is no official confirmation, the device is now listed on Chinese online retailer, JD.com. Apart from the naming, there are no details about the design or specifications of the device. It comes in Gold color and the pricing is mentioned as 9999 Yuan. The official pricing of the device can be expected on the launch day. The Meizu MX7 will be the successor to the Meizu MX6 which was launched in July last year.

While the MX6 came with an Helio X20 deca-core processor, the upcoming MX7 might skip using the Helio X30 SoC that will be built on the 10nm FinFET processor. The company might opt for the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor instead of the MediaTek processor. The rumors suggest the Meizu MX7 might come with the Snapdragon 660 SoC. Apart from Meizu, there are leaks about many other Chinese brands working on Snapdragon 660 SoC powered smartphones. With the flagship Snapdragon 820 processor, Qualcomm introduced its own Kryo cores.

The later launched Snapdragon 821 & 835 processors also used the custom Kryo cores. With the Snapdragon 660 SoC, Qualcomm is rumored to use the Kryo cores in the Snapdragon 600 series processors. Based on the rumors, the Meizu MX7 might come with a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display, same as its predecessor. It might come in two variants with 4GB & 6GB of RAM and will be available in different storage options. Last year’s MX6 came with a 12MP Sony IMX386 rear camera sensor with f/2.0 aperture and PDAF. There is also a 5MP wide-angle camera on the front for selfies.

It will also feature a front-facing physical home button that also features a fingerprint sensor. With the inclusion of NFC, the MX7 can authorize mobile payments via AliPay and WeChat. While the Chinese OEM’s are very slow in updating their operating systems, at least now we can expect Meizu to come out with the Android 7.0 Nougat based Flyme OS. Google has already released the Android O developer preview for selected Nexus and Pixel smartphones. Stay tuned on more Phone Radar for the official launch date of the Meizu MX7.
