Two Variants of Asus Zenfone 3 Gets Android 7.0 Nougat Update

Asus has recently updated its premium smartphone Zenfone 3 Deluxe to Android 7.0 Nougat via OTA update. Now, the company released the Nougat update for two variants of Zenfone 3 that includes ZE520KL and ZE552KL. The ZE520KL sports a 5.2-inch display whereas the ZE552KL comes with a 5.5-inch display. Both the devices will be updated to the latest Zen UI based on Android 7.0 Nougat. Since the Zen UI comes with its custom skin on top, there won’t be much visual differences between the new and older variants.
All the ZE520KL and ZE552KL users will be receiving the notification about the new update in a week time. The user can also manually install the new Nougat update by opening Setting > About > System Update. The changelog of the Android 7.0 Nougat update includes better touch performance and removing few bloatware apps like Asus Share and PC Suite. There are no separate apps for Audio Wizard, Splendid, System update, and Flashlight; these features can be found in the settings or quick settings.
Currently, customizing the volume of “Ringtone & Notifications” are linked as one, but with the Nougat update, they both get separated into “Ringtone” and “Notification” in the volume panel. The user can enable this feature by turning off the “Sync volumes” in the Sound & Vibration tab in the settings. To opt for the new bundled notifications, the user can enable the bundled notification option that can be found in the Settings > Notification > Configure notifications. The split-screen multitasking will come by default when updated to the latest Android 7.0 Nougat.
The users who are currently using the Easy mode will have the default launcher when they update their device to the Android 7.0 Nougat. They need to manually turn on the Easy mode from the settings menu. With the latest Android update, the device will support VoLTE and VoWiFi and the home workspace gets a new layout. Since the Zen UI based on Nougat takes little more storage than the Android M version, the device needs at least 1.5GB of free space successfully update to the latest Android 7.0 Nougat.
There are few minor changes to the system layout which improves the general speed and usability of the devices. In January this year, Asus launched the Zenfone 3s Max as the successor to Zenfone 3 Max. It is the company’s first ever smartphone to run on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. The device is priced at Rs. 14,999 and sports 3GB of RAM and a whopping 5,000mAh battery. However, the 5.2-inch display on this device comes with only HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution. Talking about the Android 7.0 Nougat update for other Asus smartphones, there is no confirmed date mentioned apart from the above mentioned Zenfone 3 variants.
