How To Turn off Facebook’s Video Auto-Play on Mobile & Desktop

Q. I have a habit of checking the Facebook post when i wake up early in the morning. From few days whenever I open Facebook on my device to check for the updates on it. The videos start playing automatically whenever i scroll through them which annoys me a lot. I wish there could be an option on my Samsung Galaxy Note 5 where i can stop all the videos and have a relaxing morning. Can you help me out?

A. Facebook is one of the biggest social networking sites and helps in connecting the world. It is one of the major platforms that helps in spreading news, so we can also call Facebook as social media. There are billions of people connected to each other on this single platform. The founder of Facebook always try to upgrade the options on it and has recently launched a new feature, where it automatically plays the videos when ever you scroll through it. This feature irritates many people and here is solution where you can disable the Auto-play option on your device. To stop the auto play option on your device follow the below steps.

Mobile Version

  • Step 1: Open the Facebook app on your device.
  • Step 2: Now tap on the menu button that is on the top right of the screen beside the notification icon.
  • Step 3:: Further, scroll down to Help & Settings and tap on App settings.

  • Step 4: In the newly opened window, tap on Video Play Automatically i.e is available in the general section.
  • Step 5: A new pop-up appears on screen with three options ON, Wi-Fi only and OFF. Click on the Off button to disable that on your Facebook app.

    • You have successfully disabled the autoplay option from the Facebook app on your device.

    Web Version

    The Facebook Video play option is also available for the web version of Facebook. To disable the feature from your Facebook web follow the below steps.

  • Step 1: Open the Facebook and login to your account.
  • Step 2: Now click on the drop-down arrow that is beside the Privacy check icon and tap on settings.

  • Step 3: In the settings window, Tap on Videos, which is at the bottom on the left side of the screen.
  • Step 4: You will get two options on the screen Video Default Quality and Auto-Play videos. Tap on the drop-down arrow in the Auto-Play videos section and click on off button.

    You have successfully disabled the Auto-Play Video options from your desktop web.
