Apps are what that make your iOS device so powerful, and here are ten must have apps that every iPhone or iPad owner should know exists. Picking few essential apps out of thousands of good apps, especially considering there are dozens of excellent apps available on the App Store. Most of the acclaimed apps are for personality types or special interest groups, which may differ accordingly. But this list is rather a must have apps for everyone, it is not focused or cater to any specific group’s needs; we are talking about the general needs of an iPhone or iPad user.

The ten apps on this list covers most basic functions that we like to do on our iOS devices: communicate with people, search information, and get direction to nearest Pizza joint. These are some of the basic things that we do on daily basis through our iPhone. Though in this list, I have excluded the preinstalled apps on the iPhone, such as Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Music and iTunes.

Everybody have different reasons to download Evernote, some will tell you it’s good in notes taking and others will praise its voice recording capabilities like voice diary. But to tell you the truth that is a uniquely personal tool and therefore everyone uses it differently. To summarize its worth, the iPhone app synchronizes notes of all kinds like texts, audio or voice memos, pictures from gallery and camera. And on top it all, this app is very search friendly where you can easily find even a needle in a haystack.

Dashlane for iOS

There is always a need of extremely secure password manager, so that you can keep your information private and encrypted. As with every password manager there is a routine to follow, you need to set a strong password for your app account and all other passwords will be generated (on your desktop) and saved automatically to your account. The iPhone app will allow you to access your login credentials as well as copy & paste those encrypted passwords whenever you need them to enter in apps and mobile websites. A premium account will cost you $4.99 per month or $39.99, which includes syncing as it is a vital part of the service if you are using it on iPhone. Dropbox remains one of the best cloud storage services provider be it on any platform. It has great ability to sync files easily among your iOS devices as the app is available for iPhone and dedicated app for iPad as well. With its open nature for API (application programming interface), you will find dozens of apps integrating their services with Dropbox. It is a great tool to give yourself and your collaborators access to different kind of files ranging from photos, videos, documents, and spreadsheets. And of course it needs an internet connection to sync your files over all of your connected devices, be it your Mac or Windows PC. If you travel a lot, and still talking over which app to get better direction, then you should already know the answer – Google Maps. There is no better tool than Google Maps no matter you are on which device, and the interesting part is that with your Google account, this app will know your preferences and best places you like to go. So, you should not have any problem using it on an iPhone, let alone iPad if you like to carry it with you. With this app you can look up addresses and get turn-by-turn directions with real-time navigations. And if traffic seems like a problem, Google Maps can circumnavigate you around it. Sure, there might be some improvements needed to this iOS app, but Google Maps remains the best in this service.

Flipboard may be the best RSS feeds and social networks aggregator available on the App Store, and yes it is available for both iPhone and iPad. With its beautiful magazine- style interface your social feeds cannot look much simpler and elegant than this. The app also touts a lot of customization features as you can make it a personal as well as a public magazine for everyone. Opening a control panel you can browse through any of the default categories, leading you to follow or delete anyone and replace it with whatever you want. This is another Google product worth adding into this list as it is now available for free. Snapseed is a versatile camera app and is known for its non-destructive editing capabilities. Moreover, it is the only app that gives the powerful abilities of a desktop image editing software. The app also lets you share your photos giving an integration of all major social networks. The email client first debuted in early 2013, is now heading to perfection with its intuitive design interface it is easy to manage your inbox by its default set of rules. This is a must have app for the online shoppers as you can shop on the go as well as check price comparison. You can also see the ordered history, 1-click settings or utilize the prime membership benefits; just as similarly you do on the website while browsing through the desktop. Flickr for iOS

iPhone users are the most frequent users of Flickr’s image hosting services, and there is no reason why they should not. We might have placed this app at the end of the list, but consider this app a must have as iPhone users like to take photos a lot, and therefore comes a need of automatically uploading the photos taken via camera to the Flickr account with 1TB of free storage. The official Flickr mobile app for iPhone will not only let you upload your photos, but you can browse through the photos of your friends as well.
