Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is the sibling of Sony Xperia Z5 and was launch in the month of September last year. This handset from Sony comes with a 5.5 inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 2160 x 3840 giving a whooping 806 pixels per inch. The device is powered by Snapdragon 810 SOC clocked at 2 GHz coupled with 3 GB of RAM on it. These two devices are the new flagship devices that were launched by the brand this year. The handset comes with a fingerprint sensor on the back and is also IP68 certified for dust proof and water resistance over 1.5 meter and 30 minute.
Below are the tips and tricks of the same that will be helpful in case if you have this device.
Insertion of the SIM card is the first thing that you do when you purchase a new device. To insert a SIM card on your Xperia Z5, switch off the device and open the cover, i.e., on the left edge of the device you can find the memory card and SIM card slots. Now pull the SIM card tray out and place the SIM card as per the marked direction and put the tray back. Further, close the cover and switch on your device. You have successfully inserted SIM card on your device and will be ready for use in some time.
Xperia Z5 is a single SIM variant unlike many devices in the market. The SIM card supported by the device is Nano SIM card.
Tethering Mode is one such that helps you to share the Data network on your device. To use this feature, open the Settings and tap on more in wireless & networks. In the new window tap on tethering &portable hotspot and click on portable Wi-Fi hotspot. In the pop up tap on the OK button to enable that on your device. You can also set the Password and Device name by tapping on Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot settings in the same window.
There are two ways of using which you can capture a screenshot on your device.
Method 1: Press the volume down button along with power button to capturing screenshot on your device.
Method 2: Press the Power button firmly. In the Power window, tap on Take screenshot to capture the screenshot on your device.
The screenshot is captured in the png format and saved to the gallery. For quick access, you can get that from the notification panel immediately after the capture.
Android updates help you to improve the performance and solve the minute bugs on your device. To check for updates on your device, Open the settings, and tap on About Device. In the new window, tap on Software updates, the device checks for updates and if there are no updates available on the device then a message stating device is up to date is displayed on the screen.
External apps can be installed by enabling the Unknown sources option on your device. To enable this option on your device, Open the settings and tap on Security in the personal section. In the new window, head over to Device Administration and tap on Unknown sources and click on the OK button in the pop-up to enable the option on your device.
The quick settings in the Notification panel can be customized by tapping on the quick edit icon in the notification panel. Now tap and hold the icon that you want them to appear in notification panel and drag and arrange it. You can select upto nine options that you want them to appear on the screen.
Power saving mode helps in improving the battery life of the device in case of emergency. The device comes with three power saving modes Stamina Mode, Ultra Stamina Mode and Low battery mode. To enable these modes on your device, open the Settings and tap on Power Management in the device section. Now you can find the power saving mode options and tap on Stamina mode and toggle the off button and tap on activating in the pop-up to enable the option on your device,
The fingerprint scanner is present on the right edge along with the power button on this device. To add a fingerprint on your device, Open the settings and tap on Security in the personal section. In the new window tap on Fingerprint Manager and click on Register fingerprint. Now place the finger on the power button and lift your finger every time you feel the vibration. Once the fingerprint scanning is completed a message stating Congratulations, your fingerprint has been recorded is displayed on the screen. Now tap on done, In the fingerprint manager window, tap on Unlock device to use this feature to unlock your device. You have successfully added fingerprint for your device and at max you can add only five fingerprints to your device.
Ultra STAMINA mode is once such that extends the battery lifetime significantly and can be used when you can’t charge your battery for a long time. It will disable all the options on your device including your Wi-Fi and internet connectivity on your device. To use this Open setting and tap on power management. In the new window, tap on Ultra STAMINA mode and click on Activate and tap on the OK button in the pop-up. It will be activated on your device, and you can find options like Phone, Contacts, Messaging, Camera. To disable this open the notification panel and tap on Deactivate Ultra STAMINA mode and click OK. Now you device will turn to the normal mode, and all the options would be available for use.
Direction, G-Sensor, Acceleration, Light, E-Compass, Proximity, Gyro, Pressure, Linear Acceleration and Rotation Vector are the sensors available on the device and helps in automation your device.
Yes, the device comes with the LED notification lights. To use this lights on your device, Open the Settings and tap on Sound & Notification in the device section. In the new window, tap on Notification lights in the notification section to enable that on your device.
Screen pinning feature is available on the devices with Android Lollipop on it. Sony Xperia Z5 Premium comes with Android 5.1.1 hence to use this feature on your device, Open the settings and tap on Security in the personal section. In the new window, head over to Advanced and tap on screen pinning and toggle the off button to enable that on your device. Now open the recent menu and tap on the app that you want to pin on your screen and click on the pin button that is on the bottom right of the screen. To unpin your pinned screen, press and hold the recent and the volume keys together.
The device comes with the pre-installed apps like Lifelog, Movie creator, Sketch, TrackID, Xperia Longue, all the google related apps and few bloatwares.
Yes, there is an option on the device where you can move the apps from internal storage to SD card on your device. To move an app on your Xperia Z5, open the settings and tap on Apps in the device section. In the app window, tap on the app that you want to move and click on Move to SD card. The app is successfully moved from internal to SD card on your device. The same process can be repeated to move app from SD card to internal on your device.
The bloatware apps available on the device are Facebook, Dropbox, AVG Protection, Clean Master, Modern Combat 5, Real Football 2015, Hungama Play, Thor The Dark World and Amazon Kindle pre-installed
Yes, you can remove/uninstall the bloatware apps from the device. To remove the bloatware from your device, tap and hold the app that you want to remove. Now release at and tap on it when the cross mark appears on the screen. A pop-up stating Do you want to uninstall appear on the screen click on the Ok button if you want to uninstall the app from your device.
The device comes with 32GB as its internal storage and around 20.3GB of space is available for the users and rest of space is occupied by OS and the pre-installed apps.
The device comes with 3 GB RAM out of which around 1.3 GB of free RAM is available when no apps are running on the device. The device doesn’t hang mush as System/OS uses 1.1 GB of RAM where the users can get an amazing experience while using the apps on the device.
Yes, the device supports OTG(On the Go) where you can transfer data from your device to the OTG Drive.
The SAR Value of the device at the head and body are 0.698 W/Kg and 0.627 W/Kg respectively averaged over 1gm of human tissue.
Sony has already started working on the Android Marshmallow update, and the brand has announced that the update may roll out for Z3+/Z4 soon by the end of the year, and the brand is also planning for the update on Xperia Z5 soon.
There are many theme options available on your Sony Xperia Z5 Premium. To change the theme on your device, Open the Settings and tap on Themes in the device section. In the new window, tap on the theme that you want to apply and click on the paint button on the bottom right of the screen. A pop-up appears stating use the theme. Now, tap on the OK button in the pattern and apply the theme on your device.
Developer mode is the advanced mode that helps in debugging your device. To enable this option, open the settings, head over to system and tap on About phone. In the new window, head over to the build number and tap it for around seven times to enable the Developer option on your device. You can find the developer option in the System window once its is enabled on your device.
The device comes with various camera options that can help you to capture images in different modes and hence enhances your camera skills. The default modes available on the device are Superior Auto, Manual, AR effect, Style portrait, AR mask, 4K Video, creative effect, Sweep Panorama, Sticker creator, Timeshift Video, Face in Picture, Sound Photo, and Background Defocus. You can also download the additional camera modes by tapping on the plus button in the modes screen or else by tapping on the downloadable menu.
The 4K video on the device can be recorded with the most advanced video coding feature i.e., H.264, H2.65 to record, capture and compress the video. The other 4K options available on the device are Steady shot same as that of the OIS feature and touch block which blocks all the touch screen options while your are recording the video.
Yes, this device does support NFC (Near field communication). This feature lets the user transfer data fast and easily just by taping the other device that also has this NFC connectivity on it.
The hanset comes with a 23-megapixel autofocus rear camera with LED and is accompanied with a 5.1-megapixel front-facing camera for video calling and selfies.
