Well, we have seen a single camera, Dual cameras, Triple cameras and also Penta camera set up on the back on Nokia 9 PureView from HMD. Now the smartphone maker Sony is reportedly in line to bring a smartphone with Six rear camera sensors. With huge leaps in the technology these days we are witnessing foldable phones, 10x lossless zoom, and many other features in recent days and we can expect more and more advancements in the future.
According to few reports, Sony is developing an Xperia smartphone which will be coming with six rear cameras but nothing is known about its arrangement on the rear as of now. The report also reveals the back camera sensor of the device and these renders are just a mock-up which we cannot trust on completely. The device will be housing two selfie cameras on the front and these are expected to be used for taking selfies with and others for making video calls.
One of the six cameras on the rear is believed to have a telephoto camera along with a super-wide-angle lens. There could also be one ToF (Time-of-Flight) sensor while the other two should be monochrome sensors that would improve details of the image taken in low-light scenes. Recently we have seen Sony launching its Xperia 1 smartphone with a 4K CinemaWide OLED display and we can expect the same on the upcoming device also.
The Sony Xperia 1 features a triple camera setup on the back with 5-axis OIS Dual Pixel PDAF enabled 12MP primary sensor and a 12MP telephoto lens with 5-axis OIS and a dual Pixel PDAF and 2x optical zoom. There is also a 12MP super wide lens and an 8MP selfie sensor. Well, it came out of the box with Android 9 Pie and was powered with Snapdragon 855 SoC.
