While the resolution of the screens of smartphones is taken into consideration quite a lot, the other factors such as brightness, color reproduction and the overall display quality are not less important. The 2014 flagship from LG, i.e. the LG G3 has something that easily beats the other flagship devices in terms of numbers – the display resolution. It is the QHD, or Quad HD or 2K resolution with the screen resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, while the other flagship devices have not more than the Full HD 1920 x 1080 pixels screen resolution. But does the G3 screen beat the other displays in every aspect? let us check out below.

The devices that we are comparing in this test, are as follows.

  • LG G3 – 5.5-inch, 2560×1440 pixels, Super Clear LCD
  • Sony Xperia Z2 – 5.2-inch, 1920×1080 pixels, Triluminos Display
  • Samsung Galaxy S5 – 5.1-inch, 1920×1080 pixels, Super AMOLED
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 3 – 5.7-inch, 1920×1080 pixels, Super AMOLED

How did these devices fare?

The LG G3 did have the best displays in the list of phones we tested, especially for the reason that it was able to put out some good content under bright sunlight, and the viewing angles were pretty good. Not the best when you view from the sides, but overall when you take all things into consideration, the Super Clear LCD of the G3 was the best.

Samsung Galaxy S5

Samsung Galaxy S5 having the Super AMOLED display doesn’t have a great display either. The view on side angles too weren’t really great, while you won’t be able to easily read the content directly under sunlight. Overall, it was an average display when you combine both, normal conditions and under-the-sunlight conditions.

The Triluminos 1080p Display on the Sony Xperia Z2 does not show content on any angle under the sunlight, but when checking on full brightness in normal conditions, the display looks quite good and bright, with content easily available on side angles too.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3

The last device, i.e. Samsung Galaxy Note 3 was surprisingly looking better than the Samsung Galaxy S5 and Sony Xperia Z2, although it couldn’t fare better than the LG G3 when talking about the brightness and content display under the sunlight.

We specifically tested the devices with the Android OS, or the iPhone 5s would have been a tough competitor for sure. In the above four devices, although the G3 doesn’t take away everything, but still it has got the best display, at least when you talk of reading the content in bright conditions.
